Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyTwin beds are not the most comfortable, windows need screens-I was attacked by mosquitoes the whole night.
A very unique location-an old castle which has been partially converted to hotel rooms. The vibe is somewhat like a dormitory but still the stay was a standout for us on our trip down the Danube. Breakfast is included and it is sufficient without frills.

United KingdomBit difficult to access and not clear where to park.
Stayed for one night en route to the Tirol region after staying in the Czech Republic. Very quirky room. Best hotel bed I've had for a while. So comfortable, had a great nights sleep. Breakfast was excellent. Fresh and plentiful. Walked into town in around 15 minutes. Very peaceful location, nice view from room. Would stay again if in the area.

CanadaWhat an experience staying in a refurbished castle (there's a knight in armour in the courtyard but don't expect a moat or a princess). Our room was huge with high ceilings, a kitchenette, and a modern bathroom. Breakfast was very good. Secure bike parking. Quiet location, 15 minute walk to restaurants.

United StatesNot that I didn’t like it, but arrival can be disconcerting as the Schloss has been separated from town by industrial buildings. Making it past that, physically and mentally, leads to a memorable stay in an incredible structure.
Wow, what an interesting place to stay. Amazing architecture, history and artwork throughout.

SwitzerlandIf you like historical ambiance combined with comfort and quirkiness, this place is for you! It's within walking distance to town and amenities as well as the Donau. Parking is plentiful. The building itself is gorgeous and full of historical presence and art. Our room was huge. The bed was very comfortable. The setting was quiet, so we had a perfectly restful sleep. Breakfast was a generous combination of breads, meats, cheese and fruits with the option of eggs prepared to your liking. Perfection! Lots of cyclists were staying here, we noticed. They seemed equally happy.

United KingdomA kettle or hot drinks making facilities would have been good. Good local restaurants and very near to the Danube. Not a problem but there are lots of stairs to some of the rooms but there is also a lift/elevator
Breakfast was very simple, no frills. Coffee, fruits , bread and cheese/meats/honey/jams. Located in a gorgeous old rambling building, very historic. I think it is also used as an art gallery. Don’t be put off by the nearby factory, it is no problem. Friendly cats, very helpful owner who spoke a bit of other languages.

RomaniaThe host was rude with a total lack of patience. At the time of check-out we got confused with other bookings that we had planned in other places and asked for 5 minutes to analyze the situation and see if we paid for the stay by card or not. She panicked and threaten to call the police. In the end we found out that the booking was not paid in advanced indeed but man, that panic attack and all the drama it was a bit too much. Breakfast was poor as stated in other reviews.
Liked the building and overall feeling of the place although for some of us it was a bit creepy (old castele like building and unfinished)

AustraliaPlace hard to find if you use GPS. GPS will get you at the wrong end of this huge property. However, after contacting the property very nice lady come and guide us to the entrance. It is huge historic place, and you can view some exhibition free of charge. Breakfast was superb and it was prepared for us outside normal hours as we needed to leave earlier. Highly recommended.

CanadaAshtrays and cigarettes littered about common areas. First impression upon arrival from outside and grounds is one of neglect - yet when you explore you discover the massive amount of work would be required to keep things operating and you only meet one elderly woman. No ability to get Donau discount card which all accommodations are supposed to provide guests for attractions and ferries etc.
The fact that you are staying in an historic palace and can visit state rooms is a nice bonus. Elevator addition is wonderful for luggage. Spiral staircase option is fun - where else can access your room like a lighthouse. Bicycle storage room is plus. Breakfast service was quite pleasant.

RomaniaThe breakfast is served to you on a plate with a few slices of ham, a few slices of salami, 2 knobs of butter, 4 cucumber slices and a few cherry tomato slices. If you finish that you get to ask for more. Would be better if it were an open bar type of breakfast. The WiFi was a bit slow.
The castle is nicely kept, the rooms are clean and you have enough space for your luggage. On the first floor there are a few decorated rooms that you can visit for free. The lady was a bit grumpy when we arrived, but it was late so it's understandable :) Free parking is a plus. Google Maps and Waze takes you to the wrong side of the property when you enter the address. You have to follow the brown signs for Schloss Aschach to reach the proper entrance. There's an elevator for handicapped people that you can use to take your heavy luggage upstairs if needed.
