How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Far away from the center,too basic furniture,no barriers facing the light of the sun at the first hours of the morning, The liflt is such a tiny that it looks a joke,the apartament is much smaller than they announce ( in my case roughly 27 metres when they publish 40 ) and what is even wiorse a couple of owners uncapable of givng me an explanation and avoiding me all time. I have submitted a formal complaint through booking.com suppying proofs and I hope they correct their wrong attitude.

Verified reviewApartment in a peaceful part of Vienna, very easily reachable on public transport. It is well-thought out and beautifully maintained, and equipped with everything one could need. The hosts have a real eye for detail: the weather turned hot and a floor-standing fan appeared; the washing machine in a room downstairs is shared between all their apartments in the building, and next to it are a pile of baskets for transporting the damp washing back upstairs; iron and ironing board are neatly stored in the hallway to the group of apartments upstairs. Several ways of making coffee? Two types of coffee machine are provided.

Verified reviewThe access to the bus and train station was great. The location was quiet everytime, from inside as outside. Mr Rank explained us everything we needed to know before to visit Vienna and stayed available in case we had any issue or question :)
Just the leak of comprehension for the end of the travel. I needed to leave my loggages somewhere in the hotel, and there was nobody at the reception. I had to call and Mrs Rank advised my to let my loggages at the laundry service. It was happily shorthy resolved :)

The apartment was not clean properly, there were many long hair all over the apartment floor and also in the sofa. The shower is very small and you barely have a place to move. The air conditioning is only in the living room, so when you close the bedroom door it is almost not cooling, and air conditioning is connected to a system which doesn’t allow you to adjust the temperature nor the air flow, so it is going on and off and this is causing noise and lack of adjustment to comfortable cool air flow. You don’t reactive any body soap, nor shampoo, and just a bit of hand soap, this is very uncomfortable and you have to go to the store and buy all the supply you need and it takes time.

Verified reviewThe property was very spacious and clean. It is a 5min walk to the nearest train station which was perfect because the apartment is not in the city center. The owners were very helpful and recommended great places and some tips and tricks. Would definitely stay there again!

Verified reviewVery nice host, convenient and well-equipped studio and kitchenette, information about the local restaurants and shops provided in advance, excellent WiFi connection. Frequent trams to the city center.
No shower gel and the same towels for three nights. It may had been explained in advance and I didn't see it as I booked in a hurry but it was unexpected. Make sure that you have planned for an hour and a half travel time to the airport if you use the public transportation. Having said this, I still find the property a great choice for a comfortable stay in Vienna.

Location is a bit far from the center. But there’s a tram that takes you directly to the area with a short and easy transfer.

Verified reviewVery comfortable and well maintained, it had everything we needed, including a fully equipped kitchen. The elevator is small but it works perfectly and very useful when travelling with heavy luggage. The location is well connected to city centre in a calm and traditionally residential area.

Verified reviewLovely apartment. Location looks a long way from the centre but because of Vienna's great transport network you can easily get to all the attractions. Staff were great, nothing was a problem.
The stormy weather wasn't ideal but Vienna has so many different attractions we just adapted are schedule.

Verified reviewThe studio apartment was thoughtfully equipped with everything you might need, including air conditioning, a rarity in Vienna apartments. A fully equipped little kitchen. Room darkening shades were very effective. Two short blocks away from rail and tram lines in a nice quiet non-touristy neighborhood.
The tiniest elevator I've ever seen. It can fit one person and a suitcase, or two people without a suitcase.
