Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

AustraliaThe sofa bed was too tight, not enough for two children. One of us had to sleep on the floor. The check-in was a headache. We had to get the key from somewhere far from where we stayed and drop them again there . I was charged to check in late, which wasn't mentioned in the check-in information. I never heard about late check-in fees somewhere else. We were really disappointed.
The units were clean.

United KingdomThis is a great apartment but unfortunately the building maintenance has been neglected. Everything was clean but several things were defective, e.g. main entrance door lock not working properly so that you can’t get out of the building without the key (fire hazard!), lift still not working, light bulbs needing replacement etc. We had to pay a deposit of 300EUR in cash at a hotel the other side of town (why no option for digital payment in the 21st century?)
Beautiful location with the added bonus of a ringside view of the balloon festival. Good value (at late September price) Free parking on site.

GermanyThe beds and furniture are in really bad state. For example the chairs are almost breaking apart in the living room and in the terrace. The high bed has no railing, it is very dangerous and is not adapted to keep neither an adult or children on it. We have to prepare a bed on the sofa for my kid. To get the keys we have to go to the hotel Sonne reception approximately one kilometer away. At that place they ask us for a warranty in cash. This wasn't informed on booking.com, it only says 200 Eu warranty. Despite they have a card machine in the reception they refused to accept the warranty with my credit card, I have to call the chief of the hotel to finally acept the payment with my credit card. What a waist of time, these apartments are managed by the hotel, but at the same time the hotel don't want to take responsibility for the apartment administration, a kind of administrative mess where the customers are in the middle. A really bad experience.
The view was nice, the access to the place was also nice, the location was ok very near shops and train station.

GermanyWhen we entered the room one of the double bed was slept in and wasn’t cleaned. We complained about it, they said they‘ll do something about it but nothing was done. When we were checking out we were asked to pay a cleaning and linen charges of 150€ extra which wasnt mentioned in booking.com. We spent some time talking to the customer care and got pur issue resolved.
The hotel is in a good location with mountain view.
