The villlage, Alpenberg an der Rax is a very small place. Hence, if one is up for a bit of social life, restaurants, pubs, etc, one needs to either drive down to the Mürz valley, or take a bus (but those are rare).

Located in a quiet village at the foot of the Schneealpe, this is an excellent place if you're fond of mountain hiking. The hotel has its own restaurant and small pub (important: Mondays and Tuesdays are day-offs), where one can have a dinner and even a good pint after a long hiking day. Rooms are very clean and spacious, with basic equipment. Breakfast is rich and delicious. Pricing is very reasonable. The staff is not only helpful and kind, but also multi-lingual (besides German and English they speak even Russian and Romanian) All in all,a perfect place for hikers.

This was my third time here, because I really like the peacefullness and the hospitality of this place. The accomodation is continuously improving, windows were changed to give even more sound proofing and to keep the warm inside. Rooms and bathrooms were also renovated. Good breakfast is served, and they pay attention to be able to serve dinner for sleeping guests even if there is a big party in the restaurant.

Beautiful apartment house in a quiet but lovely village of Altenberg an der Rax with a splendid view on a mountain range. The accommodation is very comfortable, clean, well serviced, The owners and all the staff are very kind and helpful people, really nice to talk with. The breakfasts are really good and tasty with a wide variety of food and drinks, the restaurant offers a fairly good and diverse menu. It´s only about 20 minutes´ drive to the Stuhleck ski resort. Would highly recommend and would love to come back again.

Very clean rooms, towels included. Friendly personel. Breakfast was ideal for us. Kitchen offering schnitzel, goulsash, salads,... beer and schnaps. Parking.

The room was quite small, not even spacious enough for an open suitcase. Not very comfortable bed, didnt sleep for 2 nights 😅. The variety for breakfast was rather small, but good enough for 2 mornings, with always fresh pastry :)

The room was very clean. Just about 15 min drive to Stuhleck. They have a restaurant downstairs, its probably the only one in this small village. (Doesnt operate everyday)

The first night one of the radiators didn’t work, but apparently it was a central heating problem. Food is limited for dinner.

The kitchen was closing at 5:00pm on Sundays, that was the only thing we would like to change. But besides from that everything was great.

The breakfast was very good and fresh. It was delicious. The options were rich. The hotel was only 1.5 hour drive from Vienna. Therefore it was the quickest runaway from the city life.

Very nice small hotel in a scenic area of Austria - ideal for hikers (we hiked to Hohe Veitsch and Windberg). Super-friendly personnel and excellent traditional food in the restaurant.

Beautiful location, great view from the room. Peacfeul, quiet, good choince to relax a few days but still easy to access. The room was spacious with comfortable bed, a big wardrobe and clean bathroom. The breakfast was nice too.

Everything was great! We got a huge room with comfortable beds that was very clean. The staff was kind and helpful. The breakfasts were great with a lot of options. The hotel is in a great location, a lot of amazing hikes (eg. to Rax) start nearby.

A relaxed village at the foot of the mountains. The bathroom is spacious and the heating is controlled. The owners are kind and helpful. They paid attention to everything. I'm maximum satisfied, I could spend a great couple of days here.
