Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsIt seems like more volunteers were living there than actual guests. Every time we tried to cook or relax somewhere, one of the volunteers was there doing something like cleaning, maintaining, painting the walls, or fixing things. It made us feel like guests in their house and as if we were taking up their space.
Super location and quite some space to prepare food or chill around.

AustraliaThe bathrooms could have been cleaner, and are quite old. The kitchen was boiling hot. No fans or air conditioner in the private rooms, which made it very hot especially at nighttime. The hostel seems to be volunteer run, which gave weird social vibes, as majority of the guests appeared to be volunteers
Good location, walking distance to the bus terminal. The room itself (private) was really nice. The hostel was cleanish but and old building.

UruguayI got the upper bed in the bunk bed and it was uncomfortable. No security bar so you can fall on both sides and they are narrow too. No place to connect your phone at night.

United KingdomVery nice hostel located very centrally, a few minutes from the main plaza. Beds were comfortable, well-equipped kitchen with plenty of space for cooking. Nice communal areas too which are kept cool to escape from the heat. Plenty of bathrooms and showers with hot water and all kept very clean. The team working here are very friendly and helpful. Very secure hostel too.

Germanyyou can only pay cash, which I learned only when I arrived and the whole situation resulting from it was unnecessary beyond that friendly staff - some with an attitude be aware that this place is in a city and can be noisy, ear plugs help
good proximity to bus terminal, sights and the area with museums and restaurants staff makes quite some effort to keep the place clean having a room with a window was key for fresh air flow

AustraliaLots of little inconveniences. Atrocious pillows, extremely blunt knives in the kitchen, temperamental hot water in the showers on my floor, a toilet that would only flush 75% of the time and items being replaced only after they had run out, I.e. toilet paper, hand/dish soap, matches for the stove.
Good location, very friendly staff, comfortable room.

United KingdomJust one toilet/bathroom for the entire upper floor. Dated building..Bathrooms, showers, the kitchen have never seen bleach and need some good scrubbing! Noise from the street. You could hear people in the chill area right outside the room as if they are together with you in your bed.

United KingdomReception opens at 8am, which is fine, but I was told I would be able to drop off bags at 7am, just a note for future guests. Needs a bit of a deep clean in places & a lick of paint as others have said, e.g. dirt/dust on ceiling fan isn't world-ending but would could be easily fixed. There was also more loud shouting/singing from guests or volunteers throughout the day + night than we're used to. But as I've said - it was a great price & we got what we paid for.
Honestly phenomenal value for money. Great location close to the main square. Our private room was spacious & had a TV which was great for rainy days. Someone took my labelled food from the fridge but there was at least a kitchen to use.

ArgentinaThe shared rooms could use a little more ventilation. 6 men sleeping in a small room with no windows and 37° is not a good mix.

RussiaUnfortunately, the street is rather busy and it is quite noisy in the room even with the window closed. Also, conversations from the reception can be clearly heard too - early in the morning or late in the evening they might wake you up every now and then. And lastly, looks like some spring cleaning and refurbishment would be in order. There were pieces of dust hanging from the lamp above the bed. The duvet needs washing (I found someone's used plaster on it.)The nightstand lights did not work. Those beautiful doors also need some reparation.
The location is excellent - a nice view from the window on the church, also everything is super close to explore on foot. The staff is sweet and friendly and they speak English. The building itself is old and elegant, and they keep those precious details from the previous epoch - the doors are exactly like in the Cabildo de Cordoba! I also liked the tiles on the floor and the high ceilings.
