Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

i had a wonderful time at hostal esquiador. location is brilliant, close to the bus station and everything really, staff was friendly and helpful, gave me tips i needed for optimizing my stay at sanmar. breakfast was excellent, i loved the fresh food options, and just the place itself with its decoration and vibe

United StatesThe room was quite small, good for one person only (barely), no counter space in the bathroom, no AC (though the room seemed to be naturally cool, but this may not be adequate for some - the weather was unusually warm). The included breakfast was not that great - better to walk a few blocks for breakfast. Free Wi-Fi is weak and did not work in my room.
The location is great, close to everything but quiet.

Room was lovely, spacious and comfortable. Everything we needed was provided in the room and bathroom. Breakfast was wonderful and abundant. Location is also perfect - quiet but very close to the main avenue. Closed parking is also included if needed.

United StatesThe room was very basic and the twin bed was small, however the linens were very nice. The bathroom was tiny with barely enough room to turn around in the shower. Towels were very old.
The location of this little hostel was very convenient to restaurants and the main shopping district of San Martin. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The common areas were very nice and the breakfast was plentiful. The addition of scrambled eggs was appreciated.
