The wooden walkways outside need some serious maintenance.

The location is everything. The views from the rooms are really worth it. Also, Dinner was great. Mainly though, the staff were all amazing and made our stay even more enjoyable! The Gym is small but has all you need for a quick workout.

The jetty over the lake was really run down and looked a bit dangerous. It would be nice to have some canoes to rent.

Fantastic hotel in a stunning location! The breakfast was great and it's only a short drive to the town centre. Our room had incredible views of the lake, with a big sunny terrace. The spa area was a lovely addition. Restaurant was really good too.

You have to be realistic, however, about the price point. Other hotels are significantly more expensive and you can see why when you arrive. El Faro is in need of a refurb, it's pretty run down. The bath, though comfy and with an incredible view, had mould along the grouting (as did the blind in the bathroom). The outdoor pool had many tiles cracked and missing, and the glass outside was smashed and missing in parts too. I think calling it a spa hotel is also a little misleading. The outdoor pool isn't heated, so isn't usable a lot of the time, the sauna was closed while we were there, and when I asked about the treatments there was no menu or booklet, I was just told that they're all the same length (50mins), same price ($80) and you can discuss the type with the staff member. Perhaps these things are understandable given the price point, but if they're going to disappoint you, don't book here. It's not quite the luxurious experience I was hoping for, but the views were sensational.

The biggest selling point of this hotel is its location, right on the lake, with uninterrupted views from pretty much everywhere. This made our stay worthwhile for me, as there are very few properties that offer this. For me, sitting in the room watching the sun set over the mountains was particularly magical. If this is what you're after, it's great. Additionally, the breakfast was tasty, and the staff were friendly enough. The beds were very comfy. The location is walkable to town, about twenty/thirty minutes along a path separate from the road, or a five minute cab ride.

There is a lot of deferred maintenance in the hotel with partly addressed holes in the room floorboards, handles lose etc. They need a handyman out. No bath towels in the room twice—-and the breakfast was very below par compared to our other Argentina hotel stays. The room charge was more expensive than any other hotel during our trip, and yet we had beautiful views just across the lake for a lot less money. The price is not worth the value. Front desk has no one who speaks English. All other hotels of anywhere near this price have someone who speaks at least some English to help tourists.

The view is spectacular. The location is just right—away from town but close.
