How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe were only here for one night, it was super cozy and clean. Excellent location. Everything you need for a stay and hiking in the mountains. We wanted to stay another night. They let us store our bags when we left for a hike at 4.30am and were checking out that day.
Kitchen didn’t have a pot and the oven didn’t work, the stove top took a bit of playing around to get it working but got there in the end.

Verified reviewThe cabana was compact and warm. Always hot water and excellent storage. Very good kitchen though could have offered a pot. The toilet a little small but we coped. The cabana needs a little work as some floor boards broken. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Verified reviewGood property, all you need for a couple of nights. Kitchen utensils were limited but did the job.
Downside was that the handle of our door was broken and kept falling off which was not great. We did ask the host to take a look at it, but nothing ever happened.

Verified reviewThe friendliness / helpfulness of the host. The BUTCH restaurant next door was exceptional, and very convenient.
The site was not completely tidy, and parts of it were unsightly. Crockery was chipped and cracked and we didn't feel comfortable using it. We were expecting a "mobile home", but it was in reality more of a "gypsy caravan".

Verified reviewThe location is great with a great view. Hiking trails are close by. The bed was comfortable.
The WiFi didn’t work during our stay. Water pressure is very low, we couldn’t take showers. The toilet is too small. The trailer is not clean. Too expensive for the quality.

Verified reviewThe location very close to the city center and access to trekkings. The cabin was very cozy and warm. The bed was very comfortable. Great space for luggage. You have kitchen and private toilet. The views around.
The shower has almost no pressure. The toilet is too small and uncomfortable. I think the price is high for what you get, but everything is incredibly expensive in El Chalten, so difficult to say.

Verified reviewPosition, close to main road
Very dilapidated structure, we were on the trailer, very small, no bathroom, only a WC (you couldn't close the door, too small) and a mini shower. The only sink was the one of the kitchen, everything was very old, also the water heater, a scary gas powered boiler with an always lit on flame in the kitchen. In fact it broke down the second day, living us without hot water. The day after we had an excursion, they had to repair it and when we came back, after 12 hours trekking, we couldn't go in our room because the plumber was still working. We asked for another room but nothing was possible. Wifi was very weak. Very difficult to talk with owners, the only guy managing the structure couldn't make nothing, we asked at least a price reduction for all the inconveniences and all we got from owners was the offer of a free breakfast the morning we were leaving, we didn't even answer. Worst accomodation of our patagonia tour. I wonder how booking can accept this low level structures.

Verified reviewThere is no water at all and showering is impossible!!!!. I regret it. 100%. It's not easy to get answers from the hotel. The person who goes to Fitzroy can't talk about the inconvenience because we work different hours. When I go up the mountain, there is no internet, and when Nya comes down from the mountain, he is at work and doesn't answer.

Verified reviewGood location, comfy bed
We were unable to shower (see attached photo) due to non existent water. We reported this and were ignored on booking.com so reported it to the guy who checked us in. We were told it’s just the water pressure in the whole of el chalten is poor and nothing can be done. We could hear showers running in the other cabins.

Verified reviewThe two women who provided service were generally helpful and the location was good.
Even allowing for the high cost for lodging in Chaltèn, this place is way over-priced for the poor quality: neither of the 2 wall heaters initially worked until the staff person came into light them, and only 1 continued to work; no blankets, only thick comforters for very cold inside temp; minimally stocked kitchen; staff person had to bring matches to start the stove; and when you sit on the toilet, the sink cabinet is practically in your lap. On top of all that, I had a family emergency and needed to leave early. After staying one night, I asked if I could get a refund for the last of 4 nights. Sorry, no refund if after 10 days before the first night. No flexibility and no compassion.
Hello Jim, I am sorry about your family emergeny. We are strict with this matters because we learned trough the years that everybody has emergencies until they have to pay. That was your case too, if you had a real emergeny with your wife you would have leave inmidately no matter if we refound 1 night or not. You finaly stayed and completed your saty because if 81usd, so clearly it wasn’t a real emergency. You threat us you was going to put us a really low calification , and here we are. This is our business, we have employees an lot of expenses , that is why cancellation policies exist and a reservation is a commitment of both sides. I asure you that when it is a real emergency people leaves no matter what, and there is when we consider refound. Best regards
