How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Good location for our car hire pickup and for the centre of town. We stayed one night and were very comfortable. Booked at the last minute so price was very good compared to the prices I had seen in the months before. Breakfast good buffet with plenty of choice.

All was good- as advertised as a 3 star hotel. Maybe a fan would be good for the hotter days and nights.
Position to town was excellent. Staff were very helpful, patient and polite. Room and bathroom were clean. We were up early each day so helping ourselves to the fresh breakfast worked well for us.

The guy at the front desk could have been a little bit more agreeable.
Good location. We didn’t understand if breakfast was included or he had to pay, so we went have breakfast in a different location.

We were very disappointed with this hotel and it certainly wasn’t good value for money. This hotel needs to be thoroughly updated. The hotel is set alongside a very busy road with traffic thundering by all day and through the night disrupting our sleep. We asked for a quiet room - we did not sleep properly at all during our stay. The bedrooms would benefit from having double/triple glazing to reduce road disturbance. Although the beds were reasonably comfortable and the room was cleaned every day, the hotel looked tired and shabby, curtains and net curtains were hanging off the rail. On the booking.com website it states there is a cafeteria 10am - 10pm, this wasn’t the case, only breakfast was available. The breakfast was poor offering the same food each day- the availability of fresh fruit was lacking. There was no tour desk as stated either. The website failed to mention that there was building works taking place and we were subjected to that noise too. The car park was very ram shackle with an old battered up car just being left there as scrap. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel - it thoroughly spoilt our stay in El Calafate.

Maintenance was a little poor in that the toilet cistern was loose and the bath waste didn't flow properly. The front door to the hotel didn't close properly so there was always a draft blowing through the foyer. Also the heating throughout the hotel was ridiculously hot - no controls on any of the radiators so even though it was fairly mild outside, the hotel was like a sauna. The cleaning staff opened the windows to every room when cleaning in order to make it bearable. Also, the cleaning staff provided new towels each day, even though the towels were left on the rack to be reused.
Room was clean and large enough. Location was good - short walk to town and the lake.

Feeling scammed! I was charged with an exchange rate in argentinian pesos that was 30 % worse than indicated in booking.com. I stayed in other in hotels in El Calafate the days before and the day after, and the price was as indicated as in booking.com, so it makes no sense, that they took so much more money from me! Never again!!

the hotel personnel is rude. hotel has a ridiculously expensive exchange rate that no other hotel uses - basically a scam

This is not a hotel, this is just a miserable flophouse. Staff is absolutely useless. The breakfast is pathetic. The room was small and uncomfortable. The bed was awful. There was no air conditioner, so the room was very hot, we had to open window, but we cannot sleep because of cars noises. All furniture and towels are old and battered.
