How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat location at the top of Theth, so you either have a head start for the walk to Valbone, or finish slightly earlier if ending in Theth. Room was sizable, and clean etc
Bit of a language barrier but managed in the end!

Verified reviewThis authentic family run guest house was a highlight of our stay in Albania. We were picked up from the centre of Theth, and warmly welcomed when we arrived. The property has animals (sheep, cow and calf), an amazing garden that meals are prepared fresh from (farm to table). Rooms were large and had views of the mountains- which was a treat when a large thunder storm came through. We prepared for our hike here, and they kindly let us store our bags before returning for a 3rd night on our return. We cant thank you enough.
It didn’t bother us or take away from the experience in any way, but they did have a laid back communication style.

Verified reviewVery nice, typical, mountain farmhouse / lodge. Bring your hiking shoes, it's wonderful up there. (Maybe not so much for typical city people :-). )

Verified reviewVery comfortable beds and room in a lovely guest house. The host was very friendly and made a delicious breakfast for us. Beautiful view from the windows of the room. Very convenient location to continue the Peaks of the Balkans.
The place looked brand new, not everything was finished completely, but everything worked fine. It was a bit of a walk down to the rest of Theth, but this was compensated by the great view (and saved us hiking up in the morning).

Verified reviewLovely family in a quiet guesthouse outside the main town. Perfect location for starting or ending the Theth to Valbone trail. We had the room with a picture window to the most spectacular mountain views.
It is very difficult to find the property as it a considerable way out of town on a rough track. From other reviews the family will come to pick you up if you are struggling to find the property. If you want an evening in Theth, or want to walk to the Blue Eye I would suggest booking a night in Theth and then a night at this property for the Valbone pass walk.

Verified reviewIt’s an authentic family business. The location is the best, in nature away from people and noises. The food was excellent and the family is lovely, they really care about your well being. We got some free transport because the place is exposed. If you have the chance, don’t hesitate, book it! It’s worth it!

Verified reviewAmazing place! Beautiful, get a bit of a headstart on the hike to Theth, and the staff are lovely! For example, I asked how to do my laundry and they did it for me. The dinners and breakfast are great. If you let them know in advance when you'll be there, they even pick you up from the main part of town.

Verified reviewLovely location not far from the trail to valbone.
The listing is inaccurate- it states rooms are soundproofed but it is a super noisy place to stay with paper thin walls. The evening meal was very disappointing - we thought the soup and bread was a starter, but it was actually the main meal. Not great after a day hiking.

Verified reviewWonderful views, exc. hosts Very god good (10€), all organic
Advice: because you will not find the house, due to lacks of google map, give them a call and they will pick you up. I tried to get there by myself: 1 1/2 hours sharp incline with luggage, no neighbor around…

Verified reviewAmazing place in a secluded area where you can enjoy serene nature and its magic sounds. The host and his mother are super kind. His mom makes amazing food a really traditional mouthwatering food. The building has countryside charm and great to take photos. It is next to their cousins guesthouse who welcomed me with coffee and traditional Albania juice. The place offers a unique experience of mountains and village life. The hike to Theth center is easy and you can do alone. They picked me up whenever I wanted from the city center till 10 pm. Really amazing place and kindhearted people.

Verified reviewThe host do not talk English but are always ready to make your stay perfect. They have a daughter that communicates in English . It is ideal to reach all hiking trails and Blue eye. Amazing experience.
The location is beautiful but you need a 4 x4 car to reach. It is not an issue as one can park the car at a free parking lot and the owner of the property will do the rest .

Verified reviewThe hosts were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Booking.com advised there would be a kettle/tea/coffee making but there was none in the room. We asked the host for boiling water for tea and it was no trouble. Breakfast was excellent - plenty of food with a good variety. The view was great and there were some walks nearby.
The road is not quite suitable for a rental vehicle - we were advised to have the host pick us up from Theth, which they did in their 4WD, but we felt we couldn't ask to go back into town the next day (we had a 2-night stay). It wasn't too much of a concern as we were ready for a relaxing day. It would be nice to have a kettle in the rooms and a small fridge. The wifi worked best outside the room. It could be patchy inside the room.

Verified reviewHost family and food were brilliant. Our rental car broke down on the mountain pass and we greatly appreciated the host’s offer for lift.
Electricity blackout (short term), no car accessibility (lift from Theth provided)

Verified reviewBeautiful scenery, accessible from the valley floor, lovely host family, great breakfast and dinner, overall a truly idyllic property — a garden, livestock, fresh produce, homemade cheese and wine and raki. The hosts are willing to drive you to town too. I want to live here.

Verified reviewStunning location, extremely hospitable family owners, very peaceful and quiet, amazing views, comfy bed, lovely home-cooked dinner for a fair price.
A bit hard to find, although the hosts were very accommodating and were available to drive us to and from the centre of the village - would recommend some signage nearer to the Theth/Valbona trail for passers-by. Dare I say the breakfast portions were too big! Felt guilty not eating it all as it was absolutely delicious.

Verified reviewThis beautiful guesthouse was located close to the start of the trail to Valbone, but a little tricky to find. But it was worth it! Fab views, new clean big rooms and a hot powerful shower. Food was great- both dinner and breakfast. Not much English, but very kind and helpful. The sons will take you in/ out of town by car if your legs are sore 😀 I’d recommend. Great spot. To find it, when you get to the end of the trail, turn left at Sylvester’s guesthouse and continue down the road, you see a sign when you need to turn. Good luck!
Not a dislike, but not a place if you are in a rush 😂 We wanted to hit the trail early, before the heat and asked if we could have breakfast at 7am. We were told breakfast was at 8, and when we came at 8, it was served at 8.30 😂 but we made it up and over and to be fair a lot of the trail is in the shade of the forest. We said goodbye and the son came out with a gift of a few beers for our hike 😂 great country!
