Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBit of a language barrier but managed in the end!
Great location at the top of Theth, so you either have a head start for the walk to Valbone, or finish slightly earlier if ending in Theth. Room was sizable, and clean etc

AustraliaIt didn’t bother us or take away from the experience in any way, but they did have a laid back communication style.
This authentic family run guest house was a highlight of our stay in Albania. We were picked up from the centre of Theth, and warmly welcomed when we arrived. The property has animals (sheep, cow and calf), an amazing garden that meals are prepared fresh from (farm to table). Rooms were large and had views of the mountains- which was a treat when a large thunder storm came through. We prepared for our hike here, and they kindly let us store our bags before returning for a 3rd night on our return. We cant thank you enough.

NetherlandsThe place looked brand new, not everything was finished completely, but everything worked fine. It was a bit of a walk down to the rest of Theth, but this was compensated by the great view (and saved us hiking up in the morning).
Very comfortable beds and room in a lovely guest house. The host was very friendly and made a delicious breakfast for us. Beautiful view from the windows of the room. Very convenient location to continue the Peaks of the Balkans.

United KingdomIt is very difficult to find the property as it a considerable way out of town on a rough track. From other reviews the family will come to pick you up if you are struggling to find the property. If you want an evening in Theth, or want to walk to the Blue Eye I would suggest booking a night in Theth and then a night at this property for the Valbone pass walk.
Lovely family in a quiet guesthouse outside the main town. Perfect location for starting or ending the Theth to Valbone trail. We had the room with a picture window to the most spectacular mountain views.

It’s an authentic family business. The location is the best, in nature away from people and noises. The food was excellent and the family is lovely, they really care about your well being. We got some free transport because the place is exposed. If you have the chance, don’t hesitate, book it! It’s worth it!

United StatesAmazing place! Beautiful, get a bit of a headstart on the hike to Theth, and the staff are lovely! For example, I asked how to do my laundry and they did it for me. The dinners and breakfast are great. If you let them know in advance when you'll be there, they even pick you up from the main part of town.

Amazing place in a secluded area where you can enjoy serene nature and its magic sounds. The host and his mother are super kind. His mom makes amazing food a really traditional mouthwatering food. The building has countryside charm and great to take photos. It is next to their cousins guesthouse who welcomed me with coffee and traditional Albania juice. The place offers a unique experience of mountains and village life. The hike to Theth center is easy and you can do alone. They picked me up whenever I wanted from the city center till 10 pm. Really amazing place and kindhearted people.

MaltaThe location is beautiful but you need a 4 x4 car to reach. It is not an issue as one can park the car at a free parking lot and the owner of the property will do the rest .
The host do not talk English but are always ready to make your stay perfect. They have a daughter that communicates in English . It is ideal to reach all hiking trails and Blue eye. Amazing experience.

AustraliaThe road is not quite suitable for a rental vehicle - we were advised to have the host pick us up from Theth, which they did in their 4WD, but we felt we couldn't ask to go back into town the next day (we had a 2-night stay). It wasn't too much of a concern as we were ready for a relaxing day. It would be nice to have a kettle in the rooms and a small fridge. The wifi worked best outside the room. It could be patchy inside the room.
The hosts were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Booking.com advised there would be a kettle/tea/coffee making but there was none in the room. We asked the host for boiling water for tea and it was no trouble. Breakfast was excellent - plenty of food with a good variety. The view was great and there were some walks nearby.

United KingdomA bit hard to find, although the hosts were very accommodating and were available to drive us to and from the centre of the village - would recommend some signage nearer to the Theth/Valbona trail for passers-by. Dare I say the breakfast portions were too big! Felt guilty not eating it all as it was absolutely delicious.
Stunning location, extremely hospitable family owners, very peaceful and quiet, amazing views, comfy bed, lovely home-cooked dinner for a fair price.

EthiopiaNot a dislike, but not a place if you are in a rush 😂 We wanted to hit the trail early, before the heat and asked if we could have breakfast at 7am. We were told breakfast was at 8, and when we came at 8, it was served at 8.30 😂 but we made it up and over and to be fair a lot of the trail is in the shade of the forest. We said goodbye and the son came out with a gift of a few beers for our hike 😂 great country!
This beautiful guesthouse was located close to the start of the trail to Valbone, but a little tricky to find. But it was worth it! Fab views, new clean big rooms and a hot powerful shower. Food was great- both dinner and breakfast. Not much English, but very kind and helpful. The sons will take you in/ out of town by car if your legs are sore 😀 I’d recommend. Great spot. To find it, when you get to the end of the trail, turn left at Sylvester’s guesthouse and continue down the road, you see a sign when you need to turn. Good luck!

United KingdomBumpy road to get to the property. No clear signage to the guest house.
The house is high up in the mountains. We rode our motorcycles there. The track to the house is rocky so I’d say don’t attempt it unless you are fairly confident with your off road riding skills. They also do a pick up service. The house overlooks the town and there’s mountains in all directions. It has the most breathtaking view. We originally wanted to just stay one night but changed it to four because it’s so beautiful up in the mountains. The host are an elderly couple who don’t speak English. They try their best to be hospitable. We had dinner at the house made my the hostess every night. Dinner is simple and satisfying. Breakfast is included. It is an Albanian donut like ball thing with jam and honey. I love this donut thing. She makes them fresh in the morning. The house has a fireplace and they started a massive blazing fire for us to dry our motorcycle clothes after we did the laundry using their washing machine. There are chickens, a cow, a sheep, and a few horses in their garden. There’s the animal part of the garden and there’s the human part of the garden. Sometimes the animals would walk over to the human side and the hostess would come out of nowhere and chase them back. It was quite a hilarious scene to watch a naughty horse and cow in trouble slowly walk past the window with a lady behind them shooing them. The couple are really really nice and made our stay very enjoyable and personable. The WiFi works quite well. About 20-30 mbps. Good enough for zoom calls and Netflix. Better than a restaurant’s WiFi down in Theth. WiFi connection is available only in a few places though mainly the living room. In certain corners if the room you might get signal.

NetherlandsThe location is quite difficult to find and not reachable with a normal car, only with a 4x4. Thankfully, one of the family members picked us up after contacting the host.
The location was amazing, with some of the best views of the Albanian alps. The food (breakfast included, dinner for €25 for 2 persons) was truly amazing and authentic, homemade. A good starting point for the hike to Valbona. The communication with the host was quite easy, though the older members of the family did not speak English but were very friendly. We even learned an Albanian card game from the son and played cards with him and a friend and ended up giving him a ride to Shköder.

NetherlandsDuring my stay the night was very cold, so some heating facilities would have been great. The room itself was also very simple.
The hosting family was super nice and welcoming. The house is located above the village, so you can only reach it by 4x4 car, but they give you a lift, if you can’t manage to go up with your own car. The breakfast was amazing, perfect start for a good hiking.

NorwayEverything was perfect
The hosts were lovely, Arianna speaks perfect English and is very attentive. The beds are super comfy and the rooms are perfectly clean and modern with a private bathroom. They even gave us a heater for the room. The dining area is kept warm with a fire. Their dog Lila is lovely to cuddle and pat of an evening. The food was divine, we both ate dinner there, which was a main dish and several side dishes. There was a vego (€10) and meat (15€) option. Breakfast was pancakes and eggs. The location is slightly off the beaten track, but this adds to the charm. It is a great location for the theth to valbone trailhead. It also has a beautiful view of theth from above.
