An exceptioanl hotel, very close to UTP - Pattaya airport, so a great location for a morning flight. Avoided us leaving Hua HIn at 3am in the morning for the drive upto UTP. Also good for an evening arrival , if you have a long trip ahead of you.

This is the best place I've been to around Rayong (~30 km). The check-in with the owners was easy, immediately making me feel at home. The bungalow was brand spanking new and spotless. The area is in the middle of nature, so it's very quiet and relaxing. An amazing experience 🥇

    The staff (I believe it was the lady who owns the hotel) was super accomodating when I extended my stay -on the day - (twice) to keep the same room! The room was beautifully clean, light and airy with effective air conditioning, a great view from the balcony, and comfortable. I will definitely be returning because Maerumpung beach is beautiful (didn't think I'd EVER see bio phosphorescent plankton!!!!), Ban Phe has some incredible small food outlets, Thai people are amazing, and the Makmai Villa does everything you want.. with a smile! Also, Koh Samed is just a quick boat trip from here. Thank you *Makmai for being a great base and a fantastic welcome to Thailand! 🙏🏼❤️

    Everything is perfect. Wonderful experience. Dream location, at the end of the beach with no nuisance from cars. White sandy beach, spacious, quiet and very clean rooms. Communal areas open onto the sea. The pools are superb and everything is in a very green setting. The service is very professional and all the staff are dedicated and very helpful. A true 4-star experience, an exceptional interlude that begins as soon as you arrive at the pier. A discovery and an address to remember.

    We had an amazing time at this resort. The beach is gorgeous and the staff were fantastic. It's a perfect location if you're looking for a really quiet, relaxing time. Bring a little cash as you have to pay 200 baht per person on arrival for staying in the National Park. Make sure you check out the Sunset Bar.

    The cottages were very clean, beds were comfy and it is right on the beach. You get a beach towel and beach bag which is very convenient. It is close to 7-11 and the main street, yet a bit secluded from any neighbours so it is quite at night. We had a great stay and enjoyed it a lot.

    It's the second time that we choose this hotel on our way to Koh Samet. The value for money is great. One of the best beds that I have ever found. Breakfast is very various. Not wonderful but there is a lot of choice. Location is so convenient next to a mall and a nice market.

    Been 20 times to various resorts . Always had a good time . This was the first time to this hotel only 6 mins from the port. The nice beach was 5 min walk from the hotel if one wanted to swim in the sea. Nice sea food resturant at end of the road going north

    Rayong is a not too big city on the Gulf of Thailand with great beaches. what I miss is good restaurants and coffee houses. it is all very Thai, not clean, a lot is broken and will never be repaired. streets are good, Thai driving crazy and dangerous. Thailand is the number one in road accidents and casualties in the world. Thai just do not care. that has also its positive, Thai are not easy to shock. see the acceptance of gay and so on.

    Simply the best hotel we have ever stay at. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast great. Had a Cobb salad for the first time in the restaurant. Woukd highly recommend it. Happy hour cocktails at the pool are two for one so you are paying 125 baht per cocktail. Great price!

    The area is perfect for a peacefull holiday. We did not have enough time to explore everything in the area. I avoid the heavily tourist areas on purpose so can't comment. I went for a quiet family holiday and that was fulfilled.

    A quiet and dreamy city. Not touristy. Calm. And beautiful. The people are gentle, friendly and very welcoming to foreigners. For those who don't like the hastle and noise of Pattaya or Hua Hin, It's perfect. Also, It's a stones throw from gorgeous islands.

    This resort has it all, perfect accommodations, price, restaurants. When things get back to normal again, they will have a coffee, cake shop, souvenier shop, multiple swimming pools and very clean beach. Mostly very hospitable staff. I have returned there many, many times and it has never been a disappointment ever. Almost feel like family when we go there now, everyone who has stayed remembers us. This is perfect for anyone, single, couple, families too. Once you find it, you return over and over again, I do.

    Beach garbage a bit normal amount. Not too dirty but you can never get too much of cleanliness. Cleanliness can always be improved. We brought a lot of food so not much buying around from eateries. Safe small road, which avoids vehicles to overspeed. What to avoid? Just avoid being the person to add garbage on the beach.

    ENVIRONMENTAL concerns: the world needs an urgent and combined action and this Island it’s not an exception. 200 Thb are paid to enter the island claiming it’s a “reserve” but instead of money being used to keep the island clean we can see PLASTIC being massively used, the Thai villagers itself don’t look focused on the environment ideology, and a massive temple it’s being build…questionable routing of the money I guess…but I don’t have all the facts to judge this…but another paradise it’s severely compromised if the Thai government and island management don’t improve this ASAP! Near by the Ao Chao, if we pass the next hotel on the right side, local people live there and we can see plastic all around the houses, directly on the floor…a good image on the hotels and a very bad one on the “hidden” side…not good at all and a sign that EDUCATION needs to be improved for the sake of our PLANET!

    Mae Pin is a weekend gathering spot for local Thai families, and this is possibly one of the things we liked most. There are plenty of small canteens and bar/restaurants, from the most humble BBQ barrow to the more international choice. You need to bear in mind that the beach stretches for a few miles, and that it is a great experience to just be there, walk along the shore, feel the wind and hear the waves.
