We stayed in a few different accomodation establishments and went to view a few more before we found Koh Jum Resort which has fulfilled all the requirements for our stay. The resort is a bit out of the way but possible to reach on a scooter or a taxi. We made a few trips on foot to the nearby villages for some shopping (fruits, milk, water, treats) but it is possible to stay on the adjacent beach for an extended time as the food in the restaurant really is fantastic and comparable to other prices in this area. We have really enjoyed working our way through the menu 😍 That said, we have also been visiting the Koh Jum Relax restaurant for some variety. Also, the cleaning staff are like ninjas, waiting to freshen up the rooms everyday. We would spend the mornings on the beach and return to a spotless room. If you want the beach and trips from the beach to the islands do not recommend you go this time of the year. As three single travellers there were very few bars, lots of restaurants that sold alcohol but no bars you could sit at and have a chat only found four and three of those were a good 30min walk from the centre. Ao Nang seems to have changed a lot over the years and has lost a lot of it's character as it is now catering more for families, which is not a all bad if that is what you are looking for but comparing it with Hua Hin, or Koh Samui, it just doesn't.Guest review byDennisAustralia - 8.0

Stay away from the main town part if you want some quiet. It's over commercialized, and touristy. The resorts are overpriced for their services and amenities. However we loved Long Beach. It was a beautiful beach. If you like tea, I recommend you bring it from home. It's very hard to find good black tea in Thailand. It is useful to note that there are multiple long boats and piers to access Railay. The safest route is to the east beach from Ao Nammao pier where you can safely park a hire car for a reasonable cost. If you don’t have your own transport, there are various options such as taxis.
