Excellent location, the best staff, delicious breakfast
We stayed in a 2 bedroom house for new year's eve with smaller children. Everything was great, other reviews are valid about good things. Some extra highlights:
- our traditional Slowak wooden log-house was really great, inside and outside. It is big enough for 4 but even for 6. There is a convertible couch in the living room + 4 beds. Interior is really cozy and equipment great. Fully equipped kitchen included. And it's warm due to floor heating. Parking next to the house. And it has a nice smell. 😉🌲
- staff nice and helpful, limited English communication worked fine
- buffet style breakfast was great too, good variety and quality, and nothing was empty even close to end. Combination of cold and warm, sweats, vegetables, fruits included. Coffee also good.
- buffet style dinner (part of half board) was also great. More the traditional Slovak food but for us it was perfect. Good taste and quality, replaced continuously. Lemonade drink included. (Note: breakfast and dinner in a separate building, short walk, 2-3 mins needed)
- various activities are available in a separate building (short walk, 2-3 mins). 2 hours usage of swimming and wellness area per day included in the stay. This area is quite big, 3 pools (swimming, relax, kids), kid's entertainment area, bar. In the same building, you have bowling, pool billiard and table football options for a reasonable fee. Fitness room, quite big, available including a wall climbing area. A simple restaurant with pizza option is also here. During winter time, outside ice skating court, skate renting available.
- there is also an event hall where the Sylvester party was organised.
- the location is also great, ski resorts e.g Donovaly is close, but also a bigger city (Ruzomberok) is just 15mins drive away. Surrounding nature, beautiful, good walking, tracking, cycling options. Close to the wellness building even a sledge hill is available. (if there is snow)
I love this place!
- Some people claims, that breakfasts are boring and repeatable; well, that's true that usually choice of dishes is the same each day. Anyway, it's a great choice and it's possible to create tottaly different breakfast using proposed ingredients. There's different types bread - sometimes still hot, plate with cheese, yoghurts, cereals, some hot dishes - like sausages, beans, vegetables, fresh fruits etc.
So I think that's a great breakfast. Staff is very friendly :)
- Rooms; standard rooms have everything I need. A lot of place (so I was able to do exercises when needed ;), comfortable bed, TV and small kitchen.
- Staff; It can be hard to communicate in english and I think that it would be hard to communicate at all, if you don't know any of slovian languages. Anyway, staff is very nice, very helpful and smiling.
- Aquapark; as I expected :) Hot water, nice slides, good drinks & excellent sauna center.
- Localization; Amazing. I mean - If you like to make hikes. It's between high tatras and low tatras ; so you travel to both. I don't know if there's good public transport as I was travelling by car, but you can reach a lot exciting mountains, valleys, castels in less than 30 minutes.
Very good restaurant, prices like in 4* hotel :). Nice spa with sauna and spring next to. Helpful and smiling service. Comfortable and quiet room on back side of hotel (spring side). Free parking. Ski passes (fast pass) included into prize.
We were absolutely amazed by the accommodation, it was spacious, clean and very cozy. The staff is one of the best I’ve ever met with, everybody was very attentive and helpful. Food was great, we are definitely coming back.
Excellent access to the accommodation and restaurant, great amenities in our villa and unspoiled stunning views of the lake and mountains. Safe place with plenty of room for my dog. We'll be back.
Everything excellent. One thing worth noting: our room was a decent size, probably double in size to some rooms one has allocated when staying in modern, well known five star hotels.

When we tried to take a taxi from the train station with my very elderly grandmother on crutches, the driver refused to take us all the way to the settlement. So it's better to walk/not be old or disabled/not have dark skin. No one in the town, least of all the plaque- and monument-makers, seems to have the least idea of the heroic sacrifices that settlement made for the country during World War II (partisan fighters, concentration camps, mass murder of civilians including my grandmother's parents) and Roma are treated poorly (the town refuses to pave their streets, segregates their children into a separate school, etc.), but other than that it's a nice town.

We went purely for skiing.
We went purely for skiing. Lovely slopes, just make sure there’s plenty of snow forecast, else it gets icy.
For UK visitors it’s just over a 2 hour flight to Poprad Tatry (Wizz Air) and a 40 minute transfer and you can be skiing by afternoon if you have an early morning flight.

Ružomberok is an old industrial town in northern Slovakia (during communist times is was famous for the foul smell from its industries), and a place you still have to drive through because the expressway avoiding the city has not been opened yet...and during my visit this meant chaos with three hours waiting time because of another road reconstruction work... However, there are great possibilities for skiing close to the city and a pair of museums (but aside of that not too much to attract visitors)... The beer from its first micro-brewery, Ursus, is unfortunately also nothing to write home about.

- Rented electric bicycles and travelled to the mountains
- Visit the MaraFun lake where we could have lots of fun (e.g. jetski)

Brezno is centrally located and the surrounding countryside is easily accessed. The town centre is very pleasant whilst on the outskirts there is a superb car museum. For general supplies there is a Co-Op within easy walking distance of hotel and slightly further away a Tesco.

Literally a hole in the wall, in a good way, get away from cars, traffic jams, non-stop modern life. The best place to get a rest from busy everyday life. You definitely need a car there to get to Poprad or Revuca for grocery or restaurants. Really loved this place, 8 nights, would stay there for another 8 nights.
As of geographical location, a good place as a "Forward Operation Base" to explore Slovakia.

The countryside near Liptovsky Mikulas is beautiful. Pure nature with a gentle human touch like roads, lots of bike and hiking trails, houses but not disturbing the countryside. The city of Liptovsky Mikulas is small but lovely.

Jasna resort is pretty big and there's a lot to do. The lift tickets are ~60 euro per day which personally I thought was way too much. I'm just a beginner though and the weather was really, really cloudy while I was there so on better days and a more experienced skier would definitely get more use out of the lift passes. Poiana Brasov in Romania is ~20 euro a day for lift passes and ~20 euro a day for a full ski set so my price expectations are probably ruined forever because of that.

A beautiful small city at the foothills. It has a lot ot cafes and all prime sight seeing locations around are well reachable. People are warm and nice and there is enough to do for all types and age groups of people. There is a sushi restaurant which is undoubtedly the best in Slovakia.
