- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 646 reviewsThe location never stopped surprising us. The artwork in the main building was an unexpected treat. The upstairs bar made me double check what we had actually paid for the stay because the decor and architecture was so luxurious - fit for a queen! The outdoor space with kayaks and bicycles were a lovely optional extra. There were deer in the forest and the sunsets (that last for hours in spring) over the water were incredible. The beds were lovely and floofy and the additional lounge area was wonderful to expand into after our smaller Stockholm hotels. The staff were also super chatty and gave us a lot of their time which we enjoyed immensely. There is also a parking lot outside where we could recharge our rental vehicle with an app to pay for the charge. We had a wonderful time and wish we had stayed there longer. We stayed for 2 nights, checked out and stayed for most of the day at the restaurant over looking the water and chatting.Guest review byStaceySouth Africa
- From £158.25 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 626 reviewsIt’s a lovely hotel located in a beautiful setting with horses and sheep on your doorstep. (The cows are not far away either). The staff are welcoming and understanding. They’re helpful and positive. They really make you feel at home. There’s always a tea and coffee station available in the reception which makes it easy to help oneself any time of the day. Great breakfast. Rooms are newly renovated and have everything you need. Very comfortable and practical. Lots of parking available free of charge.Guest review byChristinaUnited Arab Emirates
- From £181.98 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 29 reviewsThe cottage might not be for everyone since it isn’t a 5 star hotel, but it is the most perfect cozy little cottage, great for a couple or a solo retreat. The location is pure bliss. We went for several nights in the freezing winter so carried all our own food and supplies. The wood burning stove kept us very warm and we spent our time reading books and enjoying the gorgeous scenery. Sanna was highly responsive to and patient with our many inquiries before and during our stay.Guest review byChristieUnited States
- From £110.38 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 2,647 reviewsI had stayed at the hotel before, so -as solo traveller this time- I rebooked without searching any other hotels. Perfect location for my travel plan, supercute room with fast internet, veeeery friendly staff, nice breakfast with a variety of goods for a low fat to a "full-extra" diet, being served also in an open area! For those who travel with the Gotland ferries or train, the hotel is next to both terminals. Being able to rent a bicycle is a plus!Guest review byChristosGreece
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 246 reviewsBeautiful location with lots of activities - mini golf, alpaca feeding, walking trails etc. Nice for grown ups, though it is very popular with families. Very good breakfast and the on-site restaurant for dinner was good, but not outstanding for the price. Beautifully stylish interiors and overall a relaxing place to stay. Easy to get there without a car (bus stop to Stockholm Slussen outside) and easy to travel to surrounding towns by bus too.Guest review byFlorenceSweden
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 519 reviewsThe location of this hotel is just amazing, the facilities were excellent and relaxing in the spa was just what we needed after a long drive! We really enjoyed the location as it was lovely to walk along the waterfront and around the neighborhood and the rooms exceeded my expectations. We really enjoyed our stay here.Guest review bySachaAustralia

Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice walkways on the island and a small beach. Easy to spend a couple of relaxing days. Room has bedsheets and a towel for you to use. Also fridge and sink. Kitchen looked big, unfortunately I didn’t have time to use it. The hostel is very close to the harbor.Guest review byUlla-RiinEstonia

We loved swimming in the sea.
We loved swimming in the sea. A bit cold (19C) doesn't matter as you can warm up in the the lovely saunas and the warm pool. It's got an awesome Stockholm archipelago feeling and view, and even a family of merganser birds (skrake). We loved the gym and the restaurant was nice. Great breakfast too!Guest review byHultmanSweden - 10.0

Vaxholm is the gateway to the Stockholm archipelago, so visiting other islands via ferry is easy. Vaxholm itself is very interesting and worth at least a couple days. If you plan on island hopping (day trips from Vaxholm), then figure an additional day per island. If you don't have time to day trip, then definitely take a boat tour to just get a feel for this gorgeous archipelago. It's stunning.Guest review byDeniseFrance - 8.0

Cute little cottage with perfect amount of space for a family of four to stay for a weekend. Well stocked kitchen, great outdoor space for playing. Big drawback was lack of blackout blinds on the windows so putting kids to bed before the sun went down (which is pretty late in summer) was difficult.Guest review byAubrey - 10.0

Sahdhamn is a beautiful island at the edge of the archipelago, so please note it can get a bit windy since there are very few islands protecting it from the sea. There are trails criss-crossing the island, so it’s easy to hike around and since it’s not very big there is no risk for getting lost. During the winter most restaurants and shops are closed, but Sandhamn Seglarhotell is open and they have delicious food. The island is transformed during the summer months with lots of people, party and a much wider range of restaurants to choose from. So, depending on what you are after, choose the season to visit Sandhamn carefully. ;-)Guest review bySandraSweden - 10.0
This was an absolutely beautiful place.
This was an absolutely beautiful place. Great value for money, insanely good food? Idk I wasn't expecting swedish food to be so good, the nightly barbecue was absolutely a highlight. Also kayaking, ice cream, hiking drinks, this place has everything.Guest review byKatieUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Vaxholm is great place to base yourself for hopping out to the more remote parts of the archipelago, as many of the ferries from Stockholm stop here before fanning out into the islands. There is a small range of cafes and restaurants, and the Thai Restaurant is particulalry good value and very friendly. The backstreets are well worth an explore, and it is only a short walk south over the bridge to the nature reserve. When the weather is good, it is simply stunning. We loved the Castle, too.Guest review bySimonUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Varmdo is a district of 10 000 islands with few towns or villages to wander around or give a sense of place and culture. It has beautiful scenery, lakes, inlets, beaches, woods and farms which made it ideal for hiking and it would have been great for cycling as well as none of the inclines were too steep or too long. There are some beautiful nature reserves such as Bjorno and Sandarna which make the amazing bistro Bjorkvik a good place to pop in for food and drink. The boat services are generally good, but it's not easy to locate information about what is running and when - even Google struggled to find where the information was hidden and repeatedly gave best guesses! If you want to explore quaint villages, pop into shops, trip over a cute cafe for a snack or engage with locals, then Varmdo is not the place for you. If you want to explore nature, hardly see a soul, wild swim, trek through forests past ancient burial mounds and occasionally see people fishing or sailing in the lakes, then add the district to your plans.Guest review byMatthewUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Loved Saltsjobaden. Faurly small, Calm, peaceful. We had several different walks around the Peninsula areas. Very scenic. Liked that we found 3 good places to eat and drink, the Grand Hotel, the Var Gard Hiotel and Holmens bar bistro on the harbour Would like to come back and stay a few days longer forvacrelaxjng break.Guest review byTravel 100United Kingdom - 10.0
