Lisbon is a must visit for all.
Lisbon is a must visit for all. The city has a excellent Metro and public transport system and it is easy to move around. Visited the Castle of Sao Jorge, took the tram tour which was a fun way to see the city. The coastline at Santa Maria maior was beautiful. The food was excellent especially in Belem. Having been here before, I know the beauty of this place, but because of the high parking rates, not being able to reach most of the castles/palaces by car(closed roads), paying eur 13,50 per day for a bus fare, the extreme business (overcrowded) and the high prices for food and drinks, overshadowed the beauty this place had offered me in the past. Beach and rugged cliff coastline was a good combo . Excellent choices of restaurants from higher end ( Bougain) and simpler but good . The Paula Rego centre was a major draw for me and I wasn’t disappointed . Pretty parks to stroll in the shade too. The harbour and beaches are buzzing. If I’d have had longer I’d have hired a bike and cycled along to Estoril and the other direction to the lighthouse and beaches . The train service along the coast is reasonably priced and reliable. Oeiras is a suburb of Lisbon, so not overwhelmed by tourists. We found some great places to eat that were appreciative of our custom. There was a fantastic vegan restaurant just outside the town centre (Alma Veg).
