- From US$103.14 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 562 reviewsThe motel/lodge is very well situated, directly on the road to Turoa, and close to nice bars and restaurants. We had a late check in (11:30pm), and the team was ver accomodating, leaving the room open with keys inside, and clear instructions to go to the room. We had a appartment with 2 rooms (6 beds in total). We were positively surprised by the quality of the place, with good beds (a bit too soft for one of them, but no complains for the others), and quite a lot of space. The kitchen was well equiped too. We only stayed 2 nights, but it would be a great place for a week.Guest review byThomasFrance
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.8Good - What previous guests thought, 181 reviewsSuch a great little find, a cute holiday park really close to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing hike. Greg the owner, did everything possible to make sure our stay was comfortable by providing so much information about the area, and particularly the hike and what to expect. He also drove the shuttle bus to the start of the hike which was great and once again explained to the group everything necessary. We felt he really made a huge difference to our visit as we felt someone was there looking after us.Guest review byJenniferAustralia
- From US$70 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 630 reviewsdue to rain (traveling by motorcycle) and a failed attempt at the river canoe trip, I ended up staying at the Hobbit for way longer than anticipated, but my stay was fantastic and comfortable! Michelle who runs the lodge is a wonderful person and puts alot of effort in to keeping the lodge clean and comfy for guests! I would def recommend staying here if you are coming through Ohakune!Guest review byrebeccaUnited States

Really lovely township to stay out for visits to Mount Ruapehu - great selection of food venues (both takeaway like La Pizzeria or dine in like Cypress Tree). Carrot Land adventure park is a great visit for little kids.Guest review byMarieNew Zealand - 4.0
The management is chaotic. I lost my ski poles.
The management is chaotic. I lost my ski poles. It took me an hour to find them among three girls. I found that all their equipment was someone else's. I was shocked. There were too many novices. My friend's child was hit three times in one day. It was really dangerous.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

Roomy, relaxing, peaceful, clean - had most of what we needed. A few basic things missing that would have been appreciated - salt, soap, dishcloth, lock on bathroom door, working oven/grill. But over-all we enjoyed the stay and it met our needs for a 2 night stayGuest review bySaraNew Zealand - 10.0

National Park walks were stunning and the area truly deserves its World Heritage status. You could choose the difficulty and timing of your hikes. Easy to find your way round. Use some sandfly repellent and soother on hikes as you might be bitten. The bites are not pleasant and take a few days to stop itching. We had great accomodation which allowed us to self-cater- so no restaurant reviews.Guest review byAnonymousAustralia - 8.0

This location feels really remote,it's very quiet with interesting landscape and somewhat eerie. The rooms are fairly basic but do have everything you require. It's great value for money however and an excellent option for those travelling on a limited budget.Guest review byclaireNew Zealand - 10.0
It was a great experience.
It was a great experience. Mountain was warmer up the to & colder at the bottom. It's wise to go up the gondola ride see the mountain close up front. There is snow field up the top for seating & restaurant. National park is just mesmerising very iconic. Worth visiting. I would go again next time for the crossing.Guest review byShamshad BegumNew Zealand - 10.0

Ohakune is a town still recovering from COVID and some not so good ski seasons, but it is beautiful and well worth the visit. Apart from skiing and snowboarding, the mountain is a beautiful place to hike, mountain bike, or just visit for the view. Ohakune is small and easy to get around, with great cafes and restaurants. The ski shops are fantastic with really helpful staff (TCB is amazing).Guest review byKateNew Zealand - 10.0
We loved our visit. Fantastic views and quality time.
We loved our visit. Fantastic views and quality time. Easy to get around in a standard car. Weather conditions were clear and bright, mild cold temperatures so a very minimal amount of ice on the road. We recommend the sky waka gondola. The skotel alpine resort is a good place to stay.Guest review byMikaylaNew Zealand - 10.0

It's a decent small town in the middle of no where in rural nature. Close to the National Park town and Tongariro/ Ruapehu mountains. No real commodities in terms of gas stations and shops however but the National Park Town is only 5 minutes away.Guest review bySaahirNew Zealand
