Really lovely township to stay out for visits to Mount Ruapehu - great selection of food venues (both takeaway like La Pizzeria or dine in like Cypress Tree). Carrot Land adventure park is a great visit for little kids.Guest review byMarieNew Zealand - 6.0

went on the forgotten highway rail trail adventure trip, which was awesome, all their staff are great, a fascinating trip. Taumaranui itself is a bit grotty, but have a great Thai restaurant and good golf course.Guest review byRobbie DonmallNew Zealand - 4.0
The management is chaotic. I lost my ski poles.
The management is chaotic. I lost my ski poles. It took me an hour to find them among three girls. I found that all their equipment was someone else's. I was shocked. There were too many novices. My friend's child was hit three times in one day. It was really dangerous.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

My baby and I stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed everything about Waiouru. We were at the Oasis motel which is across the road from the Z gas station and next to a Diner, bakery, bar & bottle store which breaks off from the motel but still far away from the rooms. A bit secluded but love how everything’s so close and the nice cold weather.Guest review byShaniquaNew Zealand - 8.0

Roomy, relaxing, peaceful, clean - had most of what we needed. A few basic things missing that would have been appreciated - salt, soap, dishcloth, lock on bathroom door, working oven/grill. But over-all we enjoyed the stay and it met our needs for a 2 night stayGuest review bySaraNew Zealand - 10.0
National Park walks were stunning and the area truly...
National Park walks were stunning and the area truly deserves its World Heritage status. You could choose the difficulty and timing of your hikes. Easy to find your way round. Use some sandfly repellent and soother on hikes as you might be bitten. The bites are not pleasant and take a few days to stop itching. We had great accomodation which allowed us to self-cater- so no restaurant reviews.Guest review byAnonymousAustralia - 10.0
It was a great experience.
It was a great experience. Mountain was warmer up the to & colder at the bottom. It's wise to go up the gondola ride see the mountain close up front. There is snow field up the top for seating & restaurant. National park is just mesmerising very iconic. Worth visiting. I would go again next time for the crossing.Guest review byShamshad BegumNew Zealand - 10.0

Ohakune is a town still recovering from COVID and some not so good ski seasons, but it is beautiful and well worth the visit. Apart from skiing and snowboarding, the mountain is a beautiful place to hike, mountain bike, or just visit for the view. Ohakune is small and easy to get around, with great cafes and restaurants. The ski shops are fantastic with really helpful staff (TCB is amazing).Guest review byKateNew Zealand - 2.0
Due to a flooding warning, I canceled my trip.
Due to a flooding warning, I canceled my trip. Unfortunately, the motel did not meet expectations. I was told by the staff not to come again because they "don’t like my type." I will certainly not be staying there in the future.Guest review byDariuszNew Zealand
