The owners have thought of little things and paid attention to detail. Only wish that we could have stayed more than one night (and that there was a slightly later checkout…but that seems common across most places in NZ).

We loved the spacious apartment/motel rooms, everything was clean and in good shape, kitchen had everything we needed. Place is probably great to see the stars as well and just a short driving distance from Lake Tekapo.
Everyone there was lovely and accommodating and we even got to hand feed the pet lambs and sheep that lived on the property and had a great chat. The dogs and cat were friendly and cuddly as well. For everyone who wants to stay in the Lake Tekapo area and loves animals this is a unique and great value for money stay!

First impressions weren't great, its an old building. But the rooms are clean, the bed and its linen are superb, theres nothing not to like. The wc and shower were spotless .
I had a drink on the bar and also ate there the Sea food platter was absolutely amazing, so much food for a really great price. The overall menu looked to have many choices. (there seemed to be quite a few meals collected throughout the evening).
Free parking on the road directly at the front of the hotel.

Lovely welcome from the lady. Friendly and helpful. Cabin good size. Clean and comfortable. Kitchen well equipped and clean. Loo and shower great. Water very hot. Close to town and shops. Easy road to find, lovely land around. Definitely recommend for Fairlie.

The scenery was just magical.
The scenery was just magical. Stunning colours, peaceful landscapes. The dark skies were incredible down at the church of the Good Shepherd. My camera picked up an aurora. Magnificent.
Trip up Mt John was really worth it. Amazing views but hold onto your hats!
One thing I disliked was that I have food allergies and most places were not prepared to assist me. I found it quite distressing. TLV was the exception and the meal, especially created for me was delicious.

We were travelling on to another destination so had only planned to stay 1 night. Geraldine is a lovely township. Worth a visit. The Barkers shop is a must. The café is superb. Plenty of other excellent places to eat. Everything pretty much within walking distance.

The bakehouse pies are worth queueing for. There are a couple of nice shops - not much else there although you could visit the nearby hamlets which looked to have some interesting features.
We tried to walk along the river but the path was quite overgrown.

Lovely comfortable older-style motel not far out of Tekapo. Has been refurbished and had everything we needed. Shower was great & beds were very comfortable. Surprisingly quiet despite being near main road. Host was friendly & welcoming. Maybe a little small for more than 2 or 3 people or for more than a couple of nights. Travellers need to bring all food etc as no shops in settlement.

The footbridge and the cute lil church were stunning...
The footbridge and the cute lil church were stunning features that I always come back to every time I get a quick visit at the Mackenzie. The main character was the icey blue Tekapo lake with snow capped southern alps as a beautiful backdrop. Enjoyed our minced pies and coffee over at Greedy Cow Cafe for breakfast. Such a dreamy place indeed!

Geraldine is a pleasant place to stop overnight on your way to Christchurch or Tekapo. There are a lot of facilities for a small town.
We had a nice brunch at Verde which I can recommend for it's nice food and surroundings.

The location worked out for our travel arrangements. It was different and the owners were hard working and was a good overnight stopover. A restaurant/hotel was located 6 mins up the road and a little general store across road with a bit of history and garden furniture to see.

I have been Late Tekapo 3 times, it is more expensive than it was. My recommendation is, stargazing is the only reason to make you stay in Lake Tekapo. Otherwise you could find a better and less expensive accomodation nearby.

Geraldine is an attractive little town and a great place to stay. It has interesting shops and restaurants. Grandpa's Toys is a great wee toy shop. Verde is a lovely place for lunch and breakfast. The Village Inn is a warm, friendly place for dinner. They have a new Thai restaurant, a very good Indian, and Barkers, where you can have breakfast and lunch and buy their great food products. There is also a lovely little cafe up in Woodbury. Woodbury also has a beautiful church.
