- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 88 reviewsGorgeous view in a secluded spot. Very close to Abel Tasman for hiking and you can contact the management for a ride to the park so you can hike back to the greenie. The kitchen is well equipped, beds are comfortable and bathroom very clean (a very nice composting toilet setup they've clearly honed in). The outdoor bathtub is a great treat and has hot water. You're a half hour outside Takaka so bring your provisions for the stay and enjoy the view.Guest review byKristiUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 25 reviewsWe adored everything about this place, the view, the chalet, bathroom the breakfast basket delivered the night before. We cooked on the bbq quite a bit too. Loved we could do laundry freely after 5pm. The owners and staff were all super lovely too. It was spotlessly clean and really felt 5 star. We also really liked the area close to collingwood and farewell spit.Guest review byCatherine LopezUnited Kingdom

Spacious, excellent garden and facilities, excellently maintained, lots of privacy. Every small detail was thought of. Extra friendly owners, smiling and willing to help. Suggested to hold our luggage for the coming 3 days (we went hiking). Wish I vould give them more than 10....Guest review byTsvikaIsrael

Very quiet with restaurants a short 3 minute walk away. Very clean and comfortable. Small, as expected, but most of our time was spent sitting outside watching the sea. Good shower and facilities with a fridge and kettle. Loved it.Guest review byElaineUnited Kingdom

We love this beach - especially in winter! It is also very close to some special places - Tata and Ligar Beaches, the Wainui Falls, the Grove Reserve and more - always something new to discover. Molly Bs is to be reccommended…and the cafes of Takaka are not far away.Guest review byPeterNew Zealand - 10.0

Collingwood and out lying areas have some spectacular scenery with very unique environments not found in other places of the world. If you want to learn some history about early NZ, this little place has bits of information signposted everywhere so forget about guessing who found the place or what kept the inhabitants there. Even the journey there from Nelson was interesting with multiple towns and side trips like Mapua, the entrance to the Abel Tasman Track, Kaiteriteri Beach, Pohara and Waipupu Springs walk which was wonderful, just to mention a couple of things we did.Guest review byChristine - 10.0

Great spot near Takaka but in a natural setting. Comfortable studio unit with kitchen, dining lounge & bed all open plan. Well fitted out for a couple wanting a rustic retreat, The hosts Fiona and Frederick were superb . They presented the place in pristine condition and were very responsive when needed. Really tranquil & peaceful place with good flow in and out..Guest review byMurrayNew Zealand - 10.0
We loved the north end of the beach, tata.
We loved the north end of the beach, tata. Lovely and sheltered, and very safe for kids to swim or play on rocks. Very friendly golden bay kayak company, to hire kayaks for a morning. Takaka was also a lovely town to walk around, good food, coffee, gifts and a market was on Saturday. Other than this, our time was too short in the area.Guest review byalettaNew Zealand - 10.0

When you come out of pupu springs rd turn left and go to the pupu hydro tailrace track. not to be missed. Before walking the track go to the power station and read about it. you will get a much better understanding if you do this before the walk also suggest you do the walk clockwiseGuest review byandrewNew Zealand - 10.0
Great beach, and more good beaches nearby.
Great beach, and more good beaches nearby. Quiet summer holiday location that was still buzzing (in late Jan) with holiday-makers and had the comforts you might relish (local choices for bar & cafe & shop for groceries). A great place for a summer vacation.Guest review byMajor - 8.0

There is great scenery to be seen and some good walks nearby. Wharariki Beach is a favourite. Very dramatic rock formations, sea, sand dunes and seals. The Langford store is worth going to. Nice women with lovely homemade things to eat, drink and buy. Good collectables if that's what you like. Quirky and full of character. It is handy to longer and very scenic walks like Abel Tasman and Heaphy. I think some increased range of eating for vegetarians would be good. The Court House Cafe is particularly good for daytime food and coffee. The general store has most of what you need at reasonable prices. The Takaka Hill is a nice drive as long as you are a careful driver. Some clearly are not. Great views.Guest review byGeoffNew Zealand - 10.0

The style of the house fits in perfect with its surroundings and area! You get a very relaxing and easy stay being able to connect with nature and the views all around you. The heated outside shower was amazing, compost toilet was very clean and modern considering, all in all the perfect blend of modern and easy to use things without looking out of place for it’s environment.Guest review byneishaNew Zealand - 10.0

I loved every minute in this welcoming, peaceful, loving hippie community! Check out the notice board in town and attend events with the locals-- it's worth it! I was able to hitchhike all over Golden Bay, no problem! There are so many beautiful hikes and nature spots in the area. Also, stop in for a yoga class in town! Next to the studio, there's a smoothie place called Mermaid Beach House. Tell the owner, Amba, that a girl named Jenna sent you! Everything she makes is divine! I can't wait to go back!Guest review byJenna
