We have stayed in the new building, double room with the balcony, and it was absolutely perfect for us! Room is sparkling clean, bed super comfortable, there's bed sheets and towels included. Private shower has great water pressure. Kitchenette is well equipped - we cooked both dinner and breakfast and had everything we needed for that.
The view from the balcony is simply amazing, and the location couldn't be better, short driving distance to the Briksdalbreen glacier hike, which (and the surrounding area) was one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen!

Great cabin. Space for 6 ppl with everything you need (even a dishwasher!)
The 2 out of 6 beds are in the loft and you have to go up by the ladder and you can't stand up fully up there. It was no problem for us and actually fun for kids.
Linen and towels were provided which is not a norm for cabins in Norway, so that was great!
The view is great.
Location is also great, not too far of a drive to glaciers and hikes.

Kind staff, excellent service.
Restaurant had great prices and good quality and quantity of food. In addition, opening hours are great as it stays open until 21:00 in the evening.
Great location (5 min drive to glaciar visitor center) and great breakfast.
Room was very good size, comfortable with great views of jostedal.

Olden is a beautiful little town next to Loen with drives...
Olden is a beautiful little town next to Loen with drives and outdoor acitivities galore. We stayed 2 days and could have stayed at least 2 more. We did the Skylift, ate at Hoven, drove to the Briksdal glaciar and the Kjenndalsbreen Glacier. Loved it!

Absolutely the right choice to stay. The view is amazing, the kitchen is fully equipped, actually everything you need is available, just bring your own food and you can even cook, wash your clothes.

Great area for a weekend or just to break a long drive over the mountains. Will definitely go back. Lovely thoughtful details, chairs and a rug by the waterside, a rowing boat to borrow, a sauna for after your swim in the glacialmelt water.
Interesting hamlet with lots of buildings being restored.

Lovely location on the Fjord. Gorgeous.
Lovely location on the Fjord. Gorgeous. Not a whole lot to do except short hikes along the Fjord, or going on organized tours. In general, it is a good idea to check hiking possibilities on online sites before going somewhere in Norway. When the fjords are very steep that there aren't many easily accessible hikes, which we didn't anticipate. But the walk along the Fjord was jaw-dropping and you can go a long way.
We tried to rent a bike and the minimum rental period was 3 hrs, and we didn't have that much time.( It is a small place so an hour's rental would have sufficed. )
The glacier museum was nice for 60-90 min.

My adult daughters and I were visiting Norway and planned...
My adult daughters and I were visiting Norway and planned to drive from Bergen to Alesund. We chose the Loen because it was about half way between each city. We spent two nights at the Loen. The beds were comfortable. Food was very good considering my kids are vegetarian. Desert table was amazing. Spa area was lovely, relaxing and we spent a few hours just lounging in the waters - showere, sauna, steam, cold plunge, whirlpool etc. Pools were also fun. We also went hiking in the area. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.

For those who love Norway's mountains and green farmed...
For those who love Norway's mountains and green farmed glacial valleys all topped by Europe's largest Ice Field, this place is as picturesque and likable as anywhere on Earth. The Glacier Museum in Fjaerland sports a riveting breathtaking 20 minute flyover surround video of the Jostedalsbreen Ice Field. With all this, it's also quiet and peaceful - not overrun by tourist buses at all

Staff is very good and the hotel is well presented. One must be aware it is not a modern building and therefore do not expect modern luxury but it is a true experience. Location and views are amazing. Price is too high though all considering.
