I liked the part of the city I managed to see.
I liked the part of the city I managed to see. The reason I came, was because of the Tall Ship Race, so there were a lot of visitors and much of my time was spent related to the Tall Ship Race. Callantsoog is a nice little spot. For me it was all about reminiscing seeing we spent numerous family vacations nearly 50 years ago. Some cute little shops and eateries but best were the beach pavilions if you want to dine with an ocean view. Cosy room, everything very clean, comfortable bed (we like it soft), nicely decorated, all very practicably arranged. We enjoyed our short stay and could have spent far more time there. Lovely place with plenty of walks available for those who want them. Due to fact we visited in February it was unfortunate that several places were on limited opening however we had a fabulous meal at Basalt restaurant. Super sea seafood and excellent service. Local pub also very welcoming (sorry can't remember the name). Lovely community where everyone would acknowledge you with a friendly good morning. The city is not as beautiful as the rest of the Netherlands, but it is a port city, probably because of that. It is worth staying here because you can easily get to Texel by ferry from here. Our accommodation was not in the city center, but close to the forest and the sea, in a perfect location for nature lovers. It’s worth checking out the Navy Museum (Marine Museum), not all of which were equally interesting, but the submarine, the ships, the mock-ups and some of the paintings are very special.Guest review byEva BacsinszkyHungary - 2.0
This hotel is not good value for money.
This hotel is not good value for money. Our room and balcony were not clean. The ventilation didn't work. The lift didn't work. There were no basic tea/coffee facilities in the room so a morning brew meant a walk down two floors to the restaurant.
