Great location for the walk up Adams Peak. The staff were very helpful with a good local place to eat and timings on when to start walking. Also great breakfast in the morning and they allowed for a slightly later check out which wasn’t needed but good to know.

This hotel feels like a peaceful little slice of paradise, tucked away with stunning views of Adam’s Peak. From the moment we walked in, everything just felt right. The rooms were spotless and super cozy—you could tell they really cared about making sure guests were comfortable. We spent hours just soaking in the heated pool, and for the more adventurous, the bikes and hiking trails were perfect. What made this place truly unforgettable was the staff , starting from the reception, restaurant to the pool attendant they were superb. Rushanthani and Nadan especially stood out—not just friendly, but genuinely kind and thoughtful. They upgraded our rooms and our meal plan without us asking, which was such a lovely surprise. When it was time to leave, they even packed snacks for our journey—little things like that show how much they care.Honestly, one night just isn’t enough to take everything in and really enjoy all this hotel has to offer. If you can, stay at least two nights—you won’t regret it. I’m already looking forward to coming back one day to this warm, welcoming place and its amazing people. Kudos to the hotel management

The accommodation is beautiful. It has a lot of charm with the stones and the wood. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The food is fantastic. It was 14 degrees outside an it did have a radiator, which we were happy to use. The bed was very comfortable and the accommodation was clean. There was a multi-plug socket in the room where several plugs fit so we didn't need an adapter.

I liked many things about Nuga Retreat. First of all, the beautiful, natural surroundings with mountain views created a unique atmosphere of peace and relaxation. The rooms were comfortable and well-equipped, providing convenience, and the outdoor pool was a great place to unwind. The location could not be more perfect. A gorgeous cottage right in the middle tea fields, you could not ask for a better way to experience the Nuwara Eliya/ Nanu Oya hill country. The staff were exceptional in theory professionalism and friendliness. The fppd was exquisite. And the view will be forever seared into my memory as what heaven might look like. If you manage to pull yourself away from the delights of the cottage, the Somerset Tea Factory tour was absolutely exceptional. My friend had already been on a tea factory tour and for me the trip was really perfunctory (when in Rome) but it was absolutely fascinating, I learned so much. I could not recommend it more. A top tea-er experience!!

We are an older couple that stayed for 4 nights. This was the best hotel we had stayed at, the staff where very pleasant and eager to help with anything that would make our stay a good one. Not only was it clean the food served at breakfast and dinner was the best we had had whilst in Sri Lanka. We would use this hotel again if our age allows us to visit Sri Lanka again.

What a privilege it was to stay in such a wonderful old colonial hotel. We loved the fading grandeur. Wonderful rooms, overlooking the splendid gardens. Very comfortable bed. Nuwara Eliya – A Place I’ll Never Get Tired Of! No matter how many times I visit Nuwara Eliya, it never fails to amaze me. The cool breeze, the misty hills, the beautiful scenery — everything about this place feels magical every single time. It’s one of those destinations that instantly refreshes your mind and soul. I’ve been here so many times, and yet, every visit feels new. Whether it’s the calm mornings, the cozy evenings, or just walking around town with a hot cup of tea, I’ll truly never get fed up of being here. Nuwara Eliya will always be one of my favorite places in Sri Lanka — peaceful, scenic, and full of charm. Can’t wait for my next visit already! ❤️

Besides doing the incredibly beautiful hike to Adams Peak, you can hire a tuktuk driver to guide you to Morey's Waterfall. the best waterfall we got to hike to in Sri lanka, challenging 1 hour hike but you'll get to stroll thru lush tea plantations and walk along side Lake Morey.

A nice area to do a lot of treks amongst the tea plantations . central location if you need to drive up to hill station of Nuwera Eliya or experience the wild life at Horton Plains, A lot of Hindu Kovils to explore in town of Hatton and Tea Factory experience at Dunkeld Tea Factory.

Maskeliya is a market town which could be lot more .The hilly terrain is a planners dream. I imagine the buildings painted pastal pink and yellow, flower pots hanging from the eves, it could be a destination rather than a quick stop to buy supplies on the way to elsewhere as is now.

If you are into budget travel and want a genuine local...

If you are into budget travel and want a genuine local experience, NanuOya is a good town to visit. It’s very close to the main tourist town Nuwara Eliya (approx 9km away) and has buses heading there every 20mins. You can also get there by train. The locals are very helpful and kind. You get a few places to eat food like South Indian dishes and koththu and a few places to buy liquor from. There are two waterfalls and the larger, wider one located inside the Glassough tea estate is a place where you can bathe in on a sunny day. It’s a lovely little town surrounded by tea estates!

Excellent location for thr Pekoe Trail, good rooms and delicious food. I understand there will be facilities for guides accompanying parties. The hotel is on several levels so not suitable for people with disabilities.

What I liked most of Nuwara Eliya was naturally the cool...

What I liked most of Nuwara Eliya was naturally the cool climate. Unfortunately I had to cut short our stay by one night due to an emergency. I look forward to spending a bit more time and enjoying Nuwara Eliya.

Do not climb on Saturdays as you will most probably not be...

Do not climb on Saturdays as you will most probably not be able to reach the top. It was over-crowded and the path is narrow the last 500 meters. Got stuck in one spot for 45 minutes and decided to turn around. Still got amazing views though and the experience of local pilgrimage which was a privilege!

Hatton is the second largest city in Nuwara Eliya District has so many places to visit.The Adams peak is the most venerated place in the area.Many reserviors and watterfalls can see in this area.Seven virgin mountains,Sri pada Forest can be explored during the stay.

Wonderful place to stay and good place to explore.

Wonderful place to stay and good place to explore. We went to Lover's Leap Waterfalls, Gregory lake, Sita Temple, Hanuman Temple, Labookellie Tea Centre, Ambewela Farms, Victoria Park, Hakgala Botanical Gardens and Grand Hotel.
