- From £115.44 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very good - What previous guests thought, 915 reviewsWhat a unique and charming hotel, the staff were very friendly and welcoming but thoroughly professional, breakfast was excellent including a clever offer of sweet or savoury (we both had savoury - delicious!). Our very well-kept room was delightful with original decor, a private terrace overlooking the beautiful lake and an amazing double spa bath tucked away under the bed - great fun and very therapeutic after the night-time drive from the Mediterranean port. The location was super too, we're only sad we missed an operatic performance at the near-by theatre during the Puccini celebrations; the tranquil and delicious surroundings made up for that to some extent. We certainly plan to rectify that disappointment in the near future.Guest review byDominicUnited Kingdom
- From £200.51 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 2,013 reviewsThe breakfast and lunch were absolutely incredible—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The pools were spotless and so relaxing, and the entire property was beautifully maintained. The gardens and grounds are truly stunning. But what stood out most was the kindness and attentiveness of the staff—genuinely warm and thoughtful service that made the stay even more special.Guest review byChristinaUnited States

The historic center is very walkable.
The historic center is very walkable. Most of the sights and museums are right in the center. But also just walking the small side streets and enjoying the atmosphere, enjoying amazing food and coffee was one of my favorite things to do. Saturday market at porta palazzo is truly a must-experience. In the side streets in the city center watch out for small concept stores and cafes/bars; there are some real juwels to discover. If you like street art, to to the area of Campidoglio (10 min. by metro from the station). Really worth it (during the week, as Sunday everything is closed).Guest review byNicoleSwitzerland - 10.0

La Spezia is a great town-lots of great shops, restaurants and bars for aperitivo. Very walkable and people very friendly. Perfect jumping point for access to Cinque Terre. We found it a perfect balance using Cinque Terre card and taking train in daily. More affordable and more active later in the evening so ideal for our trip.Guest review byKossis - 10.0
It's a beautiful city.
It's a beautiful city. Quite confusing to find your way around. Do not get the train, though. You have a bus replacement at Empoli. I'm fluing back from Pisa and taking the bus to Florence, then the train to Pisa. If you're using Trainline beware of delays which then mess up the rest of the journey. Itabus from Lyon is really comfortable but we were delayed and had to book new connections from Turin. Make sure you have at least two hours leewayGuest review byBridgetUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Great place to stay and a lot of history, arts, and culture to be explored. I didn't expect that it is such a nice and beautiful place. Would recommend to everyone, especially the cafes and tavernas. I had not enough time during my stay to see enough of all the places in Lucca - so will be back - hopefully soon.Guest review byGregorAustria - 10.0

If you want to avoid the touristy cities in Italy, Parma is the place to visit. We travelled by train from Milan, so no need for a car. Easy to walk around, plenty of history and of course the Food is what the city is most famous for.Guest review bySandys - 10.0

The Aosta valley is an amazing part of Italy that folks from the US probably never visit and that is a shame. The views are stunning and you are extremely close to Mount Blanc (French spelling) and the border of France. There are wonderful wineries to visit, delicious food to eat and extraordinary hiking opportunities available. It was such a pleasure to experience.Guest review byJonUnited States - 10.0

We liked exploring the entire City and were fastinated with the old buildings. Only negative comment would be fact you need to pay for the use of the washroom. Most were dirty and lacked toilet seats.Guest review byDanielCanada - 8.0

Not very affordable as you need to pay for beach space and extras. Beaches are meant for all to enjoy and be free like in Australia. All beaches are for all to enjoy. Didn’t go once to the beach to swim or other. It’s not a holiday for summer it’s to expensiveGuest review byChrissoulaAustralia - 10.0

This trip was only a week, but I have stayed here twice before for 3-4 weeks each time. I don't rent a car (but that is a good option). Instead, I use the local buses. The bus to Chuisi is frequent, and from Chuisi you can catch the train to Firenze, Rome, or elsewhere. There are lots of Etruscan museums in the area.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

A really lovely Italian town within an easy 40 min drive or 1 hr train ride to Florence, Pisa is also close as is Siena. A lovely town to use a base to see the rest of Tuscany and to come back to at night. We loved it!Guest review byCurious TravellerUnited Kingdom
