There were no complications due to, I believe, staffwho sent me dozen of messages via email and texzs with detailed info regarding our arrival, what to do if we dont arrive in working hours etc. They provided us with emergency number and when I called they immediately answered and the problem was resolved. The place is actually in a building, typical hotelish look, entrance is by the street, it has small elevator and I think 6 floors. The apartment is gorgeous, very spacious for 1 bedroom, it has all it has to have including clean towels, sheets... I requested kids bed and got it for free - it was all prepared for us already inside. The kids bed is secure and really excellent quality. King bed is really huge. They dont have parking but I booked online covered parking cca 8 mins away from hotel which was no issue cause we prepared to go only with backpacks to hotel. I wish we had more time to explore the area. We found a cute part of town with an amazing restaurant. We plan on going back to Trieste next year and would stay there again. The only issue we had with the unit was the area is a little run down, and the TV is very old and will not support streaming. Trieste was the end port for our cruise and we had planned for a day trip to Ljubljana that went perfectly since we were next to the bus and train stations. We liked Muggia.
We liked Muggia. It is small and easy to navigate the old town. The main Piazza has several bars and cafes, friendly and welcoming for a drink or a meal, and fun for people watching. There are more cafes and bars towards the waterfront. Just stroll around and enjoy the relative tranquility. We arrived in Trieste by train, taxi to Muggia was around 35 euros. We took a day trip back to Trieste by ferry (fun in itself), and did lots of walking from Muggia. It's a nice respite from the tourist circuit, and so pretty with stone buildings and small alleyways, plus the castle (exterior) and Duomo to enjoy. The village itself has not much to offer (in terms of sightseeing), but for me as a base for exploring the karst by bike it was perfect. One of the most beautiful port cities we've visited; we loved the vibe of the city. Our brief two-night stay just before our cruise was perfect as a first visit, but we would stay longer next time to see more sites. The ones we visited were interesting, mainly because the city is easily walkable. We would explore further afield next time.
