Great place to stay and a lot of history, arts, and culture to be explored. I didn't expect that it is such a nice and beautiful place. Would recommend to everyone, especially the cafes and tavernas. I had not enough time during my stay to see enough of all the places in Lucca - so will be back - hopefully soon.Guest review byGregorAustria - 8.0

Very peaceful to look at the mountains while enjoying your morning coffee. Leave more time for communting to the property every day from where ever you visit, it is a small, winding road, a tunnell and not fun to do at night or after a glass of wine. I will look to stay closer to Pisa next time.Guest review byKristenUnited States - 10.0

The great thing about Altopascio is that it is close enough to be able to do many day trips. Within an hour from Altopascio you can get to Cinque Terre (La Spezia specifically), you can go to Pisa, Florence and even San Gimignano, a beautiful borgo townGuest review byRogerCanada - 10.0

Gorgeous hilltop village with great restaurants and a castle that you can visit with amazing views. We loved the fact that it wasn't too touristy and our trip coincided with the annual wine festival with lots of stalls and live music which we enjoyed.Guest review byEmmaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Our most favourite city in Tuscany, sightseeing Pisa, Firenze, and Livorno was annoying during the hot weather, but Lucca very pleasant. Just browsing the streets, enjoying cafffes and restaurants, also Lucca Summer fest appeared to be a fantastic venue!Guest review byTomCzech Republic - 8.0

It was quite special to stay in an ancient fortification stemming from the 1400's. The heir to this property gave us good historic background on the property. The unit is reasonable in size and was a comfortable size for 4 people although we were 6. The sleeper couch was not comfortable. The kitchen was very nice but it was not equipped to the standard of a true self catering unit. For the rest everything was just fine and we would advise anybody to come and stay here when visiting the area. The main bedroom bed was nice. The 2nd bedroom only had half walls. The little town is quaint and beautiful and worthwhile visitingGuest review byM GSouth Africa - 10.0

We only had 1 night in Lucca and i would definitely recommend longer. Not only is the city itself quite cool, with great restaurants and bars and nice squares to hang out around, but apparently you can take a short train ride to the beach. I think it's definitely worth putting on your Tuscany list, and I would recommend more than 1 night :)Guest review byEvanGermany - 8.0

Montecarlo is an excellent village on a hilltop close to Lucca. The village is very lively in the evening, with many restaurants and bars. Unfortunately, like in many other locations where demand exceeds supply, we had some negative experiences with restaurant owners who were rude and not flexible with tourists. Fortunately, those were a few exceptions, while most restaurants were friendly and gentle.Guest review byRiccardoItaly
