- From £227.41 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.4Good - What previous guests thought, 87 reviewsCasa di Lago was just exactly what we hoped for - and more - just a short walk from the centre of town where the most difficult thing was deciding which restaurant to eat at. We loved our small terrace where we could breakfast or occasionally lunch - and the views from all of the bedroom balconies. But the best part for us was the private lakeside garden - I wouldn’t recommend it for children who cannot swim, as there is no really ‘shallow end’ - but for us it was simply bliss - time for a much needed relax. Reception staff were charming and very responsive, and there was free parking a short distance away. I can’t wait to return, hopefully bringing family and friends.Guest review byMayUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.6Good - What previous guests thought, 185 reviewsAwesome position if that’s where you wanted to be as it is a few kms uphill from Pettenasco Fantastic restaurant (although no breakfast available) Very generous helpful host opened up early to let us drop our bags in Clean room with nice balcony with view She gave us taxi numbers a lthough they were unavailable. Recommend having a car Apparently there were waterfalls somewhere We could have looked a bit more at the flyers downstairs , there were lots available The ones I took for the lac were good It was relaxing and peaceful thereGuest review byCarolNew Zealand
- From £141.05 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 273 reviewsAn exceptional site near the lake with a superb view. The apartment has direct access to the 2ha garden. There is everything you need to cook, if you don't want to go to the restaurant. Luca and Melissa are extremely welcoming and helpful hosts who know how to make your stay enjoyable. Even the cats and the dog of the house enjoy the presence of visitors. This is a family house with soul and history ! Several hiking trails are accessible directly from the property. A restaurant and a grocery shop are within walking distance.Guest review byIreneFrance
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 26 reviewsThe property was so beautiful and the pool view was breathtaking There was also a very nice bistro/bar that overlooked the lake - La Cucina restaurant, with the same amazing view, served varied dishes, we had the tasting menu with wine pairing, and it was amazing The staff at La Darbia was welcoming and helpful All in all a perfect stay We will definitely visit againGuest review byKristinNorway
- From £157.97 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 635 reviewsThe hotel has a lovely garden and terrace where you can sit and enjoy a drink or coffee. The pool is nice. In the restaurant, delicious food and high service are served. Breakfast is really good with a nice selection. But probably the best thing is that all the staff are so nice and friendly, which really makes the place a place worth recommending. We loved this place.Guest review byJacobDenmark
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 735 reviewsThe location is so central, and gorgeous. We jumped off the hotel dock into the lovely, clear lake to swim. The hotel has a labyrinth of interesting rooms, with furnishings which are traditional and full of character. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The grape vines over the lower terrace roof add charm, and the upper terraces offer good sunbathing spots.Guest review byBrigetteHong Kong

The old town is lovely, and pedestrian.
The old town is lovely, and pedestrian. Lots of ice cream shops and restaurants. it wasn't too crowded (mid-July). There is a lovely lakeside path, especially on the north side of town. You can take a boat to the island which only takes 5 mins. Walking around the island takes around 20 mins (it's an interior path so you don't see the lake much while on the island), but the church is lovely. You can also walk up (quite steep) to the 'Sacro Monte' on the hill with its many frescoed chapels and churches dedicated to St Francis of Assisi. Access to the town might not be easy if you have mobility problems as the car park is on the hill.Guest review byCarolynFrance - 8.0

If you are seeking peace, tranquility and natural beauty - this is the place for you. No children and gorgeous lake - much smaller than Como or Maggiore but you can easily get to Maggiore in 30 minutes if you want more life. Gorgeous restaurant which the hostess arrange for us with taxi to and from included just down the road and a little local Osteria 30 meters away for a truly local experience.Guest review bySusanUnited Kingdom - 10.0
There were market stalls on Thursday.
There were market stalls on Thursday. Extremely helpful and patient locals (we speak a tiny, tiny amount of Italian). Great local takeaways, cafe's and restaurants. A couple of supermarkets if you really want them but why would you with all the local shops selling the best cheese, meats, bread and pastries.Guest review byMartinUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We only had one nights stay at the hotel as a stopover coming from france travelling down through Italy, however it was exactly what we expected and more. A really lovely location with a great aspect, Monte Bianco was viewable from our room balcony. it was very clean and the staff were helpful. the food was nice, however i would of liked to seen an itemised bill for our food, when we checked out. On retrospect i'm not sure if i was overcharged slightly for our dinner. If that was the case its partly my fault for not enquiring further. Having said this we would definitely return if we took this route again. Peaceful and enjoyable stay with clean nice rooms.Guest review bySimonUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We stayed in Alzo, part of Pella apparently, but its own little village up the hill somewhat on the west side of Lago d'Orta. The square looks over the lake: fantastic view with a small village feeling. Post office, lodging choices, church, dining (Osteria del Gallo), bank, all a short drive down to Pella or up more to the homes and sights high above.Guest review byWilliam - 10.0

Miasino is a quit small village. We choose for a dinner @ villa Nigra Taverne. Fine and fresh cooked. The other day we start to walk down to the lake steep but nice walk for 20 minutes and visit the old village for a couple of hours.Guest review byJanNetherlands - 10.0

It is a quiet and historic town - visit to the island was worthwhile and there is a nice park with views to walk in above the town. It is a long, steep, walk from the railways station though! (we were helpfully picked up on the way in and Luca arranged a taxi for us going back)Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Very good welcome from the two brothers who run the Battle of Britain hotel. We had lunch and it was served in a large dining room overlooking lake Orta and the beautiful gardens downstairs. The view is stunning. Lunch was very pleasant. Good beef carpaccio served with plenty of parmigiano and small salads on side. I discovered a new Italian dessert called Bonet, a speciality from Turin. Efficient and friendly staff 👏👏Guest review byJean-MichelUnited Kingdom - 10.0
A lovely small town with narrow, cobbled streets.
A lovely small town with narrow, cobbled streets. Easy access to boat trips across the lake. The Basilica on Isola San Giulio is outstanding and definitely worth a visit. Swimming in the lake is fabulous! Good bars and restaurants in the town. L'Officina was a lovely wee bar with great cocktails and friendly staff.Guest review byJaneUnited Kingdom
