FAQs about hotels in Amalfi Coast
A Feast For the Eyes
Comprised of brightly coloured villages cascading down sheer cliffs, the Amalfi Coast is on the opposite side of a peninsula from Sorrento. Between the UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages are lemon groves and winding roads hugging the coastline that are definitely not for the nervous driver!
In wonderful Positano, delicately positioned houses somehow manage to cling to the cliffs. The next village along is Praiano, on a flatter piece of land and with a 12th-century church. Furore in the hills above a fjord has its own winery.
Amalfi itself is picturesque, as it rises from the harbour to the top of its 13th-century cathedral. As the coast’s largest town, it has a good selection of bars, restaurants and accommodation. Adjoining it is Atrani, a fishing village with a dramatic, beachside road supported by arches.
High above is Ravello whose Villa Rufolo’s landscaped gardens offer magnificent panoramas of the coastline below. Due to its position, this town boasts the Amalfi Coast hotels with the best views and, of course, prices to match. Back at sea level Minori and Maiori have the longest beaches.
Due of all this splendor, you might struggle to find cheap Amalfi Coast hotels, but there is also a selection of affordable apartments and B&Bs on Booking.com, and in any case the fantastic views makes the price well worth it.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 509 reviewsI'm glad to tell that it was the best place we visited along the Amalfi Coast, and we're planning to return to this fantastic location. It's wonderful to know that it exceeded our expectations. The fact that they were in contact with you even before your arrival and took care of transporting your luggage to the hotel without the need to navigate stairs and paths shows their exceptional service. They truly went above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. The room with a balcony and a sea view was truly comforting and provided us with some of the best photos we brought back to Uruguay. I don't want to forget to mention the people, starting with Gabriella, the owner, Verónica, and Magda, who assisted us in everything. It was lovely to feel at home, as they paid attention to every detail for us. To make our departure even more special, they allowed us to stay a few extra hours in the room. And as if that weren't enough, in the afternoon, before our taxi arrived, they offered us the opportunity to take a refreshing swim at the beach and use their facilities to freshen up. THANK YOU, POSITANO, THANK YOU, PUPETTO, for having such soul, which is ultimately what we truly value in the beautiful places we visit. We will be back!Guest review byJuan CarlosUruguay
- From £307.20 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.7Good - What previous guests thought, 1,270 reviewsEverything was above our expectations. We were quite reserved to book the hotel since it was rated 7.7, yet we still booked it since it was October and options limited. Yet, it deserves a perfect 10. The hotel, the view, the breakfast, the restaurant were exceptional. Absolutely exceptional. They had free parking in an area that is complicated to find parking places. The view from the our hotel room was stunning (we had a room with a view both to the sea, and to the city of Salerno, as well as to the port). The private beach was very clean. The breakfast was diverse and had mindblowing desserts. All the dishes we had at the restaurant were stellar (2 consecutive dinners). We tried, twice as well, the Michelin restaurant - Re Mauri - and we had the best food in a long while.Guest review byXENIARomania
- From £325.86 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 683 reviewsA unique hotel, great location, incredible view and delicious food! The staff is smiling and friendly! We were greeted by Carmelo, a typical Italian, as if he had stepped out of a romantic movie (if you have seen the movie with Robert Downey Jr. Only You), who with a smile invites you into this gorgeous atmosphere! I highly recommend this hotel, where you will feel at home and at the same time like a scene from a movie❤️Guest review byMKalkosBulgaria

Good continental breakfast, sweet and savoury option to order at your table, everything was fresh and good quality. Very convenient parking near the entrance with plenty of space but we visited during winter time, might not be this easy to park in high season.Guest review byPiXpaaItaly

Amalfi is a small and charming town with beautiful architecture and a lovely atmosphere. However, since it’s the central town of the entire Amalfi Coast, it tends to get very crowded — which unfortunately takes away some of its charm. That said, it’s still worth a visit, especially to admire its history and beauty. But I highly recommend exploring the nearby towns as well — like Positano, Atrani, Maiori, Minori, and others — each of them has its own unique character and is often much more peaceful and authentic.Guest review byLiza ManijaLatvia - 6.0

Picturesque town, but realize that unless staying right in town center, sooner or later you will have to face lot of steps up /downhill. Taxi drivers have colluded to charge exorbitant flat fees for even the shortest drive. The port is not protected from rough seas, so in case of stormy weather, access by sea may not be possible.Guest review byKnutCanada - 10.0
We loved where we stayed.
We loved where we stayed. Last year, we visited the Amalfi Coast which was beautiful. This year we went to Capri, which was amazing. The local shops were great and the people are very friendly and helpful. We ate locally or cooked and had a few favourite spots. It was easy to walk around where we stayed, for longer trips we had the rental car. We could ask our host for directions and tips on where to visit.Guest review byCarmelIreland - 10.0

We think Vietri is the best place to stay on the Amalfi coast. It is easy to reach (most other towns are a pain to drive to), and is a great place to explore from, with Pompeii only 25 mins drive and Herculaneum around 35 minutes, all motorway. The town itself is very authentic and prices are reasonable compared to the better known places. The boat service to other Amalfi towns is regular and easy to use without being too expensive (€25 return to Amalfi for 2 people) - we enjoyed the boat trips as much as the towns which were generally heaving with tourists, I’d hate to think what high season is likeGuest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Amazing city with very nice restaurants and great ferry connection. It was a very good decision for us to stay in a smaller city, because Maiori has a fantastic beach, it was not that busy, but we still had access to all the bigger cities on the coast.Guest review byBettinaNorway - 8.0

We loved our stay at the hotel however I would not recommend it for those with small children or those who have a disability because of the amount of stairs you have to climb to get into and out of the hotel itself. David, our host was excellent. He recommended places to eat and to go to. We also hired a car and was provided with private parking for an additional cost. The view from our room was also beautiful.Guest review bySarina19United Kingdom - 10.0

Praiano is a great place to be if you're ok with staying local and in a smaller town. Amazing views, not very walkable (as in there's not really a strip or a condensed area to visit, it's a little spread out).Guest review byTomy - 10.0

Furore is around 15km from amalfi, sounds close but in reality due to the winding roads it takes around 25 minutes in a car/bus Furore is quite spread out so you need to take that in to account when staying there. Car/moped is the best method of transport followed by the bus, walking is an option but be prepared for many steep hills. This is a perfect base to get into amalfi, but be aware that parking in amalfi itself is challenging and the police/car towing companies are red hot!Guest review byMARKUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Peaceful and quiet—perfect for a relaxing vacation. There are plenty of good restaurants and enough markets for everyday needs. The area also offers great historical sites to explore, along with the beautiful Valle delle Ferriere nature park nearby. A convenient bus stop with frequent service makes it easy to get around the area without a car.Guest review byNemanjaSerbia
