Wow, I didn’t expect such quality of service! The owner welcomed us even though it was very early in the morning and was really kind and professional. He also helped us arrange an unforgettable private desert trip after we didn’t hear back from the one we had initially planned. Sleeping under the stars and enjoying a delicious meal, loved it! This was without a doubt the best hotel we stayed in during our india trip. the rooms are big and very clean, and well decorated. The bed and lining were really comfortable and soft. And there was an actual dedicated shower area in the bathroom, which is really uncommon in india (normally there are no shower walls/curtains. The food in the restaurant was very good and the Continental breakfast well served. the indoor swimming pool was also good to relax after a long day. however, during winter months, it gets a bit cold after sunset.

They offer Free pickup from the train station , it's a new hotel and super clean ! . We checked out and left our baggage at the hotel to go to the desert safari . The day after they offered us a room(for free) for some hours to take a shower and be ready for our train.

Stunning hotel, beautiful rooms and lovely architecture with very friendly and reliable staff, Gaji the owner was very friendly and helped us to plan our desert tour and was an excellent host. They picked us up from the train station and dropped us to our bus as well which is a bonus!

Good tourist place.

Good tourist place. Jaisalmer fort is a populated town itself with people staying in dwellings within the fort - so it may appear congested specially when moving about the narrow lanes within the fort. Those who like shopping, there is ample opportunity within the fort premises. Yet, my guide advised me to do shopping from markets near Patwon Ki haveli. Mandir Palace is a jewel , don't try to MISS it. The most beautiful building in yellow stone, I must say. The Museum (quite small) is worth a visit @Rs.120 pe head for Vilas Mahal . The palace is partly a luxury hotel, partly residence and partly open to tourists. Sam Sand dunes : It was quite fun to have a camel ride there. The area covering the dune safari was not big as such, but you get a feel of the desert nevertheless. Evening programme of folk song and dance at desert camp was kind of fun.But it lasted more than what one can enjoy.Shorter duration is better. Dinner : don't expect good quality there on your plate.Items we got were quite bland and sterile. Note : Sam dunes safari can be booked from Rajasthan tourism @Rs1250 per head.Private operators charge more anywhere between Rs.1800-2500/= Jaisalmer City is not a big city, like another middle tier city in India. People are quite friendly and cooperative I found. Ghotua : If you like sweets, from near the fort, buy Ghotua (Jaisalmer special) from the most well known sweet shop of "Dhanraj". Though not comparable with famous Bengali sweets, I liked Ghotua.

To be honest I thought it would be a continuous desert...

To be honest I thought it would be a continuous desert beyond Jaisalmer before our visit there. Know that the dunes are formed at certain places only. But they are obviously out of the world. One has to visit it once.

Sam Sand dunes, Longewala Border, Tanot Ma Mandir & Kuldhara...

Sam Sand dunes, Longewala Border, Tanot Ma Mandir & Kuldhara village are great. Jaisalmer fort & Havelis are also good. Gedisar Lake has Laser Light & sound show in the evening but unfortunately it was not working on that day. Shree Jee Excellency has great food. Try local food like Dal-Bati Churma, Ker Sangri, Besan Gatta, Bajra Roti & Lal Maans (for Non-Veg), if available.

If you want to visit proper desert with Sandunes then Sam is...

If you want to visit proper desert with Sandunes then Sam is the place. Gets a bit crowded during winter season but it's ideal climate to visit Jaisalmer. You can do Jeep Safari for sunset and sunrise. Same with camel safari. Desert bike and parasailing also available. If you are traveling in winter grab some warm clothes as it gets really cold in the mornings and evenings especially due to the winds. there are tons of camps and most of them offer cultural program. There are also lots of restuarants around and personal vehicle can be really helpful.
