- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 13 reviewsCurrarevagh House us one of those unexpected surprises that leaves you smiling long after you've checked out. Family run for generations - and now lovingly tended to by the heir Henry and his chef extraordinaire wife Lucy, no detail is left undone. The house is wonderfully eccentric and interesting. Our room and bed were extremely comfortable and quiet. The ancient forest and lake are remote and stunningly beautiful and the meals are exemplary - truly the best we've had on our five week journey throughout the Isles.Guest review byAndrea ChesneyUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 113 reviewsEverything! Deirdre and Greg are the most welcoming hosts. The room was clean, especially the bathroom which was newly renovated and had plenty of space, extra tables for the stuff. The bed was amazing! King size which we didn’t expect and fine mattresses. Breakfast was beyond delicious!!! Freshly cut mango, orange and fruit salad. Plenty of cereals, a big menu from which you could choose freshly made Irish breakfast choices. Awesome! We even got trip advices on our way to them. Very helpful!Guest review byAnnikaGermany

Cong is a beautiful historic village with its own dramatic ruined Abbey and the extraordinarily beautiful woods adjacent to Ashford Castle. There are many lovely walking trails amidst the huge trees - that include some redwoods. Sadly, many trees were downed during the devastating Storm Eowyn in January 2025, so a number of trails, including access to Lough Corrib beach, have been blocked. Also, be aware that this is a popular tourist area and buses can disgorge large groups at any time during the day. All the more reason to stay overnight!Guest review byRobertUnited States - 10.0
Great little town, friendly and welcoming.
Great little town, friendly and welcoming. Lots of history, beautiful park and marked walk around the town. Free parking with plenty of space. Grocery store, butchers coffee shops, gas station, selection of great pubs and souvenir shops amongst others in the high street. Super little place.Guest review byLorraineCanada - 10.0
Loved Bun An Coirin. Quiet, peaceful and close to walks.
Loved Bun An Coirin. Quiet, peaceful and close to walks. This was a self catering cottage . We loved making our own meals. There was a lovely little bakery where we bought a selection of breads, all very yummy. We found a couple of nice cafes in Cong, not too far from Clonbur that served delicious coffee and scones. There is an easy walk from Chonbur to Cong.Guest review byCollette - 8.0
Initially looking for a place near Galway.
Initially looking for a place near Galway. The website seemed to suggest that the accommodation was within a reasonable distance. It took us another 40 mins to get there after passing through Galway, so somewhat disappointed. Nothing at the accommodation within walking distance apart from stunning views and very warm, friendly hosts. The nearest places for dinner were Moycullen or Oughterad. We went to the latter, a 20+ minute drive through narrow country lanes… well aren’t they all? Lovely meal at the Powers Thatch. Friendly, welcoming people. All in all, missed out on Galway but had a very relaxing evening back at the accommodation watching the sun set. Beautiful.Guest review byTiger 32Australia - 8.0

Beautiful village and even during off peak season the scenery and entertainment was top notch. Fans of The Quiet Man need this little village on their to-do list. We visit every year at least once, sometimes 2 or 3 times with different friendsGuest review byursulaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Hasn’t changed since childhood holidays 48 years ago! People still very friendly and welcoming. Love the quick wit and sense of humour. Great village-style choice of pubs, food shopping, restaurants and gift shops. Sense of a real and supportive community. Everyone flexible and willing to help. Easy access from village to multiple sports and beautiful views.Guest review byAnderleyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A beautiful , well-kept little village with so much to explore on foot. The Abbey is free to visit and there are several river and woodland walks leading from it. Lots of wildlife to be seen, herons, ducks and even a leaping salmon! Lydons was a great place to stay and to eat in. We only stayed one night but will definitely go back to explore some more.Guest review bymicheleIreland - 10.0
