A lovely, green and serene private island between two rivers. The room was spotless and comfortable. The owner was incredibly kind to us and sweet. If you want to chill, do yoga, meditate, and be surrounded by beautiful nature, flowers and batteries surely choose this property. Thing to consider that the location is a bit remote and the road is challenging, steep and a bit bumpy in the end, however, it was ok from our taxi drivers.

In villa big room, cozy bathroom and big terrace where stuff every morning brought fresh coffee and decorating with flowers. Stuff really helpful and polite. Fantastic location in front of Ocean, with great views. Amazing staff, friendly and always willing to help. The food at the restaurant was excellent, as a vegetarian there were lots of choices and every one was delicious. Pool was very clean and had lovely views of the ocean. Villa was also very clean and had great views. Big thanks to all the staff for making it a memorable and wonderful experience.

Lovely breakfast by the beach in the hotel restaurant. The reef is intact with beautiful corals and fish and I it was a short swim from the beach to see them. There are boat rides to farther reefs, cars to sunset viewing and visits to holy sites, temples and waterfalls. This was a small, very peaceful and well maintained property.

It was my second time in 6 years and they didn't disappoint. Celebrated my 60th birthday with a group of friends. Had an amazing time. The staff is just super amazing at this beautiful place. Excellent breakfast every morning. They also arranged for snorkeling trips and massages, all really good and well priced. Will highly recommend.

Such a beautiful location, right on the river and really feels like you’re in nature. The restaurant was delicious, the staff extremely kind and accomodating, and all of the activities were easy to book through the hotel with less than a days notice! The massage was also excellent. Loved Amed but was only there for 2 nights, would definately go back for longer. Beautiful people and amazing local food. Great spot if you dont want the hussle and bussle of Kuta/Seminyak or Legian. The black beach was gorgeous and the sunsets were amazing, Great place for divers/snorkelling and fishing.

We only stayed a late afternoon and night while making our way to the North of Bali. There are a few tours that you can do, and I plan on coming back next year for 3 nights instead. It’s the perfect place to unplug and get away from buzz of city life whether it’s in the south or back home in a large city.

Padang bai is a transit town for the ferries.

Padang bai is a transit town for the ferries. There are plenty of eateries around. The beach is unfortunately littered with rubbish and stray dogs roam around. It’s not somewhere to stay for long. There is a dive centre so it might be good for that, but for me as a general tourist I wouldn’t take a holiday here. I just stayed for the fast boats.

I have been travelling around Bali for some time and I have come to a conclusion. Bali is about Earth Energy and there are 4 elements in which it excels. Central Bali, Ubud and heading North for Jungle Energy....intense and slightly chaotic. The Peninsula for expansive Ocean Energy, connecting you to something bigger, and Rock Energy...grounding, stabilising. Then you have Candidasa. Candidasa is the Energy of the Hills, the Green Healing Hills. Take your bike off the main road and you will be driving closer and closer to the foot, then keep driving, up and up, for absolutely breath taking views of dense greenery with traditional structures scattered in the distance. Breathtaking.

A little village with one main street.

A little village with one main street. Lots of diving opportunities. There was a 3 day festival happening when we were here that had a night market and dancing, including a fire dance. We got to mingle with the locals, kind folk, which was nice. It's a pretty easy scoot to some of the temples, rice fields, waterfalls, beaches, and attractions in the area. Decent local restaurants, good massages, good accessible shore dives. Easy enough to find a scooter rental for 70k-85k per day, ask the owner of where you're staying. During our stay in late October, there was a lot of haze in the air (maybe from burning?) so unfortunately, there weren't good sunrises or sunsets.

An off beat location, which is actually peaceful and great...

An off beat location, which is actually peaceful and great for nature lovers, adventure seekers and history lovers. It is close to the mother temple of Bali (15 minutes), Blue lagoon diving and Snorkeling, p Pura Tirta and the most amazing rafting site. So a 3-night stay at this place is ideal to cover east Bali and then you can go to Ubud.

We stayed just one night to visit the Gates of Heaven. I feel is enough to see the surroundings and have a feel of the place. We found the tickets a bit expensive. I mean is a nice place but not to pay 10$. You can see Tirtagangga in 20 minutes, depending on whether you are an instagramer and you take selfies in every corner, then you can stay there for over an hour, although is very difficult to take good selfies as there are people everywhere. Around the entrance, there are a few restaurants and shops. But please I would say to the owners or whoever takes care of this place, tell people not to feed the fish. They are huge! and it's because the shops nearby sell food so you can take a picture with the fish.

The hike of Mount Agung is challenging in all possible ways and attempting during day time (heat- a big part is without shade) or without a guide in our opinion is dangerous. If travelling to Besakih you might consider having a car or motorbike as there are a lot of dogs on the street that bark and approach you unfriendly. we managed to use the transport from the accommodation. The Besakih Temple is mind blowing, the guide we had was very knowledgeable and very good at his job. Would strongly recommend visiting besakih for a minimum of 3 nights.

Amed was lovely, found some great eating places that were really reasonable. Gusto, Galangal, Warranga Amed with live music and fabulous hosts, Sunset view restaurant )the lower key more traditional one) the other Sunset view was too upmarket and commercialised. We loved riding around on the scooters and felt it was quiet enough to feel safe. Really enjoyed getting up into the hills from there to see the rural lifestyles.
