- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 74 reviewsIf your idea of luxury is something sleek and modern, then this may not initially be what you're expecting. Perhaps 'rustic', 'traditional' or even 'Grandma chic' would be better descriptors, but what this place lacks in modern refinement it more than makes up for in other ways. Our stone villa was charming, characterful and spacious with stunning views and a beautiful courtyard and private garden. There are equally wonderful views from the lovely, uncrowded pool and restaurant area too and the food in the restaurant is superb—undoubtedly one of the best places to eat on the island. Yet surprisingly, the villas, the food and the location aren't even the best parts of this accommodation, it's actually the quality of service. Eirini and Christos are gracious hosts and their staff are all, without exception, excellent. When we encountered a medical problem that needed addressing they were concerned and helpful and throughout our stay everyone who works here was personable, efficient and friendly. All in all, I can't wait for the opportunity to revisit.Guest review byJonathanAustralia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 16 reviewsWe have been looking forward to going to Patmos for some time, When we arrived at the hotel we where greeted by very friendly staff who asked us immediately if we where hungry, I was starving so I said yes. Before we even checked in they brought out this beautiful platter and cold drinks. It was one of the best check-ins I have had in my life. The rooms where great and so was the service for my entire stay, my only regret is that I did not stay longer.Guest review byMariosGreece

Skala has a lovely central area with restaurants and shops, and is pleasant to wander around. It is convenient so close to the ferry port. It was easy to hire a car and there were large public parking areas. You need one if you wish to visit beaches. Psili Ammos in the south is worth the half hour hike in for its fabulous sandy beach with a good taverna. But there were no beaches within walking distance of Skala. St John’s monastery is certainly worth the visit. We jumped on a ferry to Lipsi island for a great day trip.Guest review byJanAustralia - 10.0

Patmos mid-September still has plenty of visitors but isn't packed. It feels laid back and relaxed. There are some lovely beaches - our favourites included Kampos, Livadi and Psili Amos (which takes a hike to get to - wear good shoes). There is a great variety between the beaches being sand, pebble, stones. You definitely need to budget for hiring a car or scooter to get about - though there are taxis too. There's plenty to visit in terms of monasteries, windmills, traditional ship yard, plus driving to some of the more out of the way places is interesting. It's easy and worthwhile to get a ferry to Lipsos or one of the other nearby islands for a day trip. We stayed for 10 days and it felt just right.Guest review byAntonyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Grikos is a pretty sea-front village with five tavernas, one organised beach and two unorganised beaches. It's perfect for a quiet and relaxing holiday. The port of Skala, the main town, is 3 kilometres away, and buses costing two euros run regularly throughout the day and into the early evening. There's also a car and scooter hire establishment for those who prefer their own transport. There is no grocery-store in Grikos, but Skala is close enough to not make this too much of an inconvenience.Guest review byLoraineUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It is a quiet bay, there is an excellent beach with life-guard, two tavernas and two bar-restaurants immediately at the beach. All the people we met there are polite and sincerely cordial. May our Lord bless all of them.Guest review byДимка ГочеваBulgaria - 8.0
Skala is beautiful. Easy access to everywhere by bus.
Skala is beautiful. Easy access to everywhere by bus. Nice cafes and restaurant. Prices are expensive to other islands I have been. There are nice boutiques. Around beaches which are close are wonderful.Guest review byFundaTurkey - 8.0
Patmos is a beautiful and busy place.
Patmos is a beautiful and busy place. The town of Skala is great for shopping and walking. There are lovely beaches around the island, which can be reached by boat or car, but they are well worth the effort. A visit to the monastery and the town of Chora, with its many restaurants, shops, and great views, is also a must. Overall, it is a gorgeous island, but be prepared for some cold seawater.Guest review byMaria MercedesUnited States - 10.0
Skala is delightful, but Patmos overall is incredible.
Skala is delightful, but Patmos overall is incredible. We visited the beautiful village of Chora, the monastery of St John, the windmills, and the spiritual cave of the Apocolypse, where John wrote the book of Revelation in the Bible. All was achieved in one day by taxi from Skala. The entire trip was from the island of Kos by ferry, with a 2 night stay in Skala. Well worth it. Wonderful !! Two beautiful islands in one holiday !!Guest review byLovePrince&TravelUnited Kingdom - 8.0

There is a good selection of nice tavernas in Skala Town; there is one fine hotel close to the sea and the Bay which (unfortunately) was fully booked while I was there - unlike my chosen hotel which had about a 3% occupancy!!Guest review byDavidIreland
