FAQs about hotels in Scotland
A Rugged Jewel
With round-top mountains and green hills extending in almost every direction, and stone houses dotted around, Scotland is a jewel of nature forged by ice, winds and seas over thousands of years. But Scotland is much more than beautiful landscapes: it’s the finest malt whiskies in Moray County, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the kilts and the bagpipes, the exciting and modern Glasgow, and much more!
The country can be divided into 3 areas. The Highlands and Islands have mountainous landscapes and numerous bodies of fresh water, including Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, as well as little cities like Inverness and numerous islands like the Isle of Skye. Don’t miss the deals on Booking.com if you’re looking for hotels in the Scottish Highlands.
The Central Lowlands are the most densely inhabited area, and with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen located in this part of Scotland, 5-star hotels are common here.
The Southern Uplands are composed of a range of hills and valleys stretching almost 200 kilometres, home to several hotels with a spa - a relaxed option to enjoy this area.
As some of the more unusual Scotland hotels, castles can be a particularly good option to enjoy a Scotland holiday in royal style.

- From £175.50 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,451 reviewsI recently stayed at the Wyndham Duchally Country Estate and had an incredible experience. From the moment I arrived, the friendly staff made me feel right at home. The accommodations were spacious, beautifully decorated, and offered stunning views of the Scottish countryside. The comfortable bed and serene atmosphere provided the perfect setting for a restful getaway. I especially enjoyed the indoor swimming pool and the on-site restaurant, which served delicious, locally-sourced dishes. The breakfast buffet had a great variety, ensuring a perfect start to each day. The estate's location is perfect for exploring the natural beauty of Scotland. The peaceful walking trails on the grounds and nearby outdoor activities like hiking and golfing made my stay even more enjoyable. Overall, Wyndham Duchally Country Estate exceeded my expectations. It's a fantastic destination for anyone seeking relaxation and adventure in a picturesque setting. I look forward to returning soon!Guest review byAsi HoreshIsrael

Walk through the Royal mile, discover the ''hidden gates'' and underground cities. Worth to check The World's End pub and Devil's Advocate (at Advocate's gate) Try out local pub food. Try out local whiskeys and learn 5 beautiful regions of Scotland where they produce the whiskeys. (and buy 1 or 2 to take back home) If you love Harry potter , you will be amused in this city. And if time allows , i strongly reco to take a Highland tour, worth to visit.Guest review byNilNetherlands - 8.0

Just went for a concert at the cathedral. That was walkable from our B and B, and we enjoyed the evening. Went to a small Chinese Restaurant called Fat Buddha quite nearby. It was more of a takeaway but fine to sit and eat in for an hour or more.Guest review byRozUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Aberdeen was a surprisingly attractive city to visit and easy to get around on foot. I liked the fact that it was nowhere near as busy as Edinburgh yet had lots of character. Enjoyed the look of the harbour right up against Union Square, with many ocean-going tugs in close proximity. Plenty of good pubs, with a festive atmosphere. We ate at Ma Cameron's, with good pub grub, and Mi Amore, cosy Italian restaurant in one of the back streets.Guest review byStuartSouth Africa - 10.0

We were using Oban to access the Cal Mac ferry to Lismore, as my partner's dad is buried there. Everything went very smoothly and we had a nice sailing there and back. We enjoyed a couple of excellent meals at the Waterfront Sea Food Restaurant and ES-USK Seafood Restaurant. Enjoyed an evening of live music and a few drinks in The Oban Inn. Finished the trip off by visiting McCaig's Tower, with excellent views over the town, sea, and surrounding Islands.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Amazing!
Amazing! A must see place full of history and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Didn’t want to leave. Stunning views from the top of Stirling Castle, Stirling Jail’s Observation Tower and the William Wallace Monument. Free shuttle bus every few minutes up to the monument and free to view from the outside. All historical attractions worth a visit for the view as well as the history. Stirling old town available to see on foot. Easy distance from restaurants and pubs too. Lots of nice restaurants to choose from. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Scotland. Allow 3-4 days and allow 2.5 hours for Stirling Castle.Guest review byKEVINUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Aviemore has a great buzz about it – a proper gateway to the Cairngorms with a strong tourist vibe that makes it feel lively year-round. The high street is packed with outdoor shops, from big names like Ellis Brigham and Tiso to smaller independents, so whether you’re after hiking boots, ski gear or a new waterproof, you’re well catered for. There’s also a good mix of cafés, pubs and restaurants, which keeps the place welcoming after a day outdoors. It’s the kind of town where you instantly feel in “holiday mode,” with a steady flow of visitors giving it energy without losing its Highland charm.Guest review byAndyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
