FAQs about hotels in Kent
The Peaceful Garden of England
The so-called Garden of England, Kent is known for its lush greenery. Although within easy reach of London, it’s a world away from the hustle and bustle. So much so, that at many Kent hotels, spa facilities come as standard. One is, unsurprisingly, in the sophisticated spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells.
Nearby in Lamberhurst is medieval Scotney Castle, surrounded by a moat. Also moat-bound and with Kent accommodation available on Booking.com are Hever Castle and Leeds Castle (the latter in a village not to be confused with the city of Leeds).
The county town is Maidstone, but its most famous city is Canterbury, whose magnificent cathedral is the seat of the Church of England’s highest post. Rochester also has an impressive cathedral.
To the west is Margate, one of the top Kent seaside towns. Other resorts with long beaches are Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Deal. Around the coastline, Dover is known for its white cliffs, castle and the ferries crossing the English Channel to France. To the west is the Channel Tunnel by Folkestone, and Eurostar trains from St Pancras also stop at Ashford inland.
Other popular Kent attractions are the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway, Brands Hatch motor racing circuit, and the conical oast houses so typical of this part of England.

We booked an overnight stay as we have stayed at the hotel before several times and found that it’s a good central location for the harbour etc. the buffet was disappointing. It was much better the previous time we stayed. The food was not enjoyable. We enjoyed the evening entertainment, so we will return and skip the buffet dinner.Guest review byDebbieUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Canterbury is nothing short of enchanting—a city where...
Canterbury is nothing short of enchanting—a city where history, culture, and modern vibrancy blend seamlessly. From the moment you step into its cobbled streets, you’re greeted with a sense of timeless charm. The awe-inspiring Canterbury Cathedral dominates the skyline, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that leaves visitors humbled by its grandeur and spiritual presence. Walking through its nave and cloisters feels like traveling back through centuries of human story, pilgrimage, and devotion. Yet Canterbury isn’t just about the past. The city is alive with a thriving cultural scene, bustling independent shops, cozy cafés, and an excellent variety of restaurants that cater to every taste. The River Stour, winding gently through the heart of the city, adds a peaceful rhythm—perfect for a boat tour or a leisurely riverside stroll. The mix of ancient architecture and modern energy creates an atmosphere that is both inspiring and warmly welcoming. Beyond the city center, Canterbury’s proximity to the Kent countryside and coastline makes it an ideal base for exploring “The Garden of England.” With beautiful walking trails, vineyards, and charming villages nearby, the whole region feels like a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. Whether you’re drawn by its literary heritage, its medieval streets, or its contemporary arts and dining, Canterbury truly has something for everyone. It’s a city that captures your imagination, soothes your soul, and lingers in your memory long after you’ve left.Guest review byKeithUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Debbie is an excellent hostess - her breakfast spread is above par in presentation, taste and portions. She has a bubbly character and is generally very concerned with each guest's comfort during the stay and appetite at the breakfast table. The rooms were spacious and well equipped with snacks and toiletries. Should I need to be in the Ashford area, I will definite choose her B&B for the entire duration of my stay.Guest review byAndrew LW LeeSingapore - 10.0
Good choice of shops and restaurants.
Good choice of shops and restaurants. Good transport links if no car, i.e. regular buses for local trips or nearby towns including Hastings and Tunbridge and Railway Station (Hastings an hour away by train). Worth a visit to Museum and Art Gallery. Lovely parks including Calverley Park - easily accessible from town (walking) for a coffee or ice cream! Enjoy!!Guest review byAudreyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The Dover Castle was lots of fun and was well organized for visitors of all ages. The war tunnels on the other hand were poorly organized and should be reorganized in order to help make them more interesting. The films on the walls explaining the historical events were difficult to understand due to the echo. The significance of the tunnels could be made more hands on for the younger generation to grasp. The Cliffs of Dover- easily a days experience and excellent hike and picnic opportunities along the way.Guest review byEllenIsrael - 10.0
Ramsgate is a delightful seaside town.
Ramsgate is a delightful seaside town. The harbour area is fab to wander around, the beach is wide and roomy, plus it was easy to walk along the beach / broadwalk to Broadstairs which is also a gorgeous town to visit (where we watched a band play on the band stand and played crazy golf). A perfect place for a long weekend on the British seaside.Guest review byFionaUnited Kingdom - 8.0
We come every year
We come every year Not a shopping place if wanting big name stores . The town is small and easy to access. Lovely main sands and small bit of beach near the flat was nice and tidal pool easy to access We ate at mechanical elephant and Peter fish and chips. Margatevis easy to access 8 had no young children but we have accessed the escape rooms shell grotto chalk caves and Walpole Bay hotel for cream teas . We were able to get a none bus to Canterbury from right outside the flat .Guest review byKarenUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The beach is at the end of the high street in Broadstairs which is perfect for picking up any last minute amenities along the way. I visited the Turner Museum for the first time & I found travelling backwards & forwards from Broadstairs station to Margate a few times (forgetful me) really easy & I'm not sure if this would have been any easier by car so its a 👍 for the railways.Guest review byAnonymous - 6.0
