FAQs about hotels in England
The Small Country with Big Appeal
For a relatively small country, England certainly manages to pack in a wealth of tourist attractions, from Land’s End all the way to Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Words can’t do justice to the capital London - an exciting mix of famous sights, royalty and vibrant life. Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham are fabulous cities that have emerged from their industrial past to be cutting-edge centres of culture.
Newcastle, Leeds and Bristol are well known for their buzzy music scene, while sedate Oxford and Cambridge are famous for their universities and punting. Stately York still maintains its city walls and Windsor has the wonderful castle where the Queen often resides.
Sheffield and Derby border the magnificent Peak District, while the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are close to Blackpool, one of England’s favourite beach destinations. Other very popular beaches are in Brighton, Eastbourne, Torquay and Scarborough.
With a beautifully rugged coastline, mystical Cornwall has England hotels in the country, as do the Cotswolds where stone houses line picturesque villages. The Georgian spa cities of Bath and Harrogate also have impressive stone architecture.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of what England has to offer, but wherever you visit, you can be sure that Booking.com has a fantastic range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in England to choose from.

We stayed for 3 nights and packed as much into our stay as we could. There is so much to see and do that we only scratched the surface. The main attractions are easy to get to. There are so many lovely buildings, statues and parks. We enjoyed lots of walking to get to places and the buses were excellent to get about. Only used the tube once to get to and from Wembley for Coldplay.Guest review byLornaUnited Kingdom - 2.0

We stayed in Manchester to see a concert at the Opera house, so stayed a couple of nights to explore the area and do some shopping. Manchester just seems to have random stuff everywhere, without and sense to the layout. The shops were standard high street shops and were expensive The bars and restaurants were also very expensive and there were far too many, until we wanted a late beer and couldn't get one after midnight We made use of Weatherspoods a couple of times for food, as they were affordable There were homeless people on every block, far too many people in the centre and a lot of the area smelled of drugsGuest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 6.0
Choose your accommodation very carefully.
Choose your accommodation very carefully. The Sunday, previously the Mercure, didn't meet basic expectations. Be careful of attending organised events at the Shankley Hotel. They are a complete rip off. We ate at the So Salsa restaurant in the City. An excellent selection of good quality food and wine with very friendly staff.Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom - 10.0
I have always liked Blackpool from being very young.
I have always liked Blackpool from being very young. Of course the place has changed a lot, but still find it a pretty good place to go. This time as a birthday treat from my wife. The switching on of the illuminations was the highlight of the stay. But,, to say that the low point of the trip was the hotel that I had chosen didn't deter from the town and activities offered. Love the day rider tram and bus rides. Just a pity that we couldn't ride the tram all the way through the lights on the Friday night. We did however do the full length of the lights by car on the Saturday evening. We had a good weekend even with the poor choice of hotel.Guest review byDerekUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Perfect hotel in the centre of the city.
Perfect hotel in the centre of the city. Shops, restaurants and pubs all around within easy reach. Hotel itself is fabulously classy. Rooms are lovely, beds are amazingly comfortable. Staff are extremely professional and helpful. Always happy to help. Breakfast is cooked to order so always fresh and hot. Plenty of hot food options. Grand central car parking is a few minutes walk and generously discounted by the hotel which is an added bonus if you are travelling by car.Guest review bykennethUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Beautiful and compact.
Beautiful and compact. Well care for, tidy, loads of restaurants, historically amazing, the city walls and York Minster are incredible. Can't believe we haven't been before, we'd definitely come back and we drove out to Scarborough and the NE coast for a day which is an hour away and well worth a visit.Guest review byHelenUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Bristol is a compact and a pleasant city, easy to get to the attractions from the apartment. Clifton village/arcade is worth a visit and off course the Brunel suspension bridge is a must see. Harbourside was vibrant with lots going on and we recommend the River Station restaurant. The Museum and Art Gallery are well worth a visit.Guest review byNewlands - 6.0
Leeds is a lovely cultural place, with plenty to see and do.
Leeds is a lovely cultural place, with plenty to see and do. Its central to other towns like York and Waterfalls and country hikes. Just be aware if driving through Leeds trying to find a carpark, there isn't any signs for parking, we had to Google and on our return home, I was issued with 2 fines for driving in a street that's just for buses twice! If there's a park and ride go for that as if you have no idea where your going you'll get caught out!Guest review byDebbieUnited Kingdom - 4.0
PLEASE BEWARE!!!! PLEASE BEWARE!!! STAY ELSEWHERE!!
PLEASE BEWARE!!!! PLEASE BEWARE!!! STAY ELSEWHERE!! STAY ELSEWHERE!!! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF BLIND WITHOUT A MASK ON TOO!!! I was tricked into using their taxi service because they were the same price as the bus but my credit card statement showed otherwise!! I was double charged for my rooms too and there is no way of contacting them online or through Booking.com to rectify this HUGE mistake!!! After confirming with me at check in that my reservation had already been paid for they went ahead and charged me AGAIN!! I have had to contact my credit card company with my proof of payment and they show me paying for it twice also!! i have put in a dispute with my credit card company as well as my bank!! PLEASE BEWARE!!! PLEASE BEWARE!!!Guest review byteresaUnited States
