FAQs about hotels in Cornwall
The Stuff of Legends
Inhabited since prehistory, Cornwall is characterised by a series by rocky bays, fishing villages and spectacular coastline. Right at England’s western tip is Land’s End where sheer cliffs descend into the Atlantic Ocean. Along the coast is popular St Ives, home to many Cornwall hotels by the sea on Booking.com.
Another fantastic beach resort is Penzance, while across the bay is St Michael’s Mount (not to be confused with similar Mont St-Michel in Normandy). Also boasting a wonderful beach is Newquay, though it is best known for its excellent surfing conditions.
Further north is Tintagel, the stuff of legends due to its association with King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. The remains of Tintagel Castle are perched dramatically on a rocky promontory, while inland on Bodmin Moor granite tors and stone monoliths only add to Cornwall’s feeling of mystery.
Heading north towards Bude the Cornwall beaches become longer, while on the southern coast Looe is a picturesque town curving around an inlet. To the east near St Austell is the Eden Project, huge domes housing thousands of plants from all over the world.
The county town of Cornwall is Truro, home to an impressive cathedral overlooking the River Fal which flows down to Falmouth Bay, a great spot to try some local Cornish ice cream.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 75 reviewsAs the Americans say, “what’s not to like?”. I was fortunate enough to stay in The Forte Suite, with floor space larger than my little cottage near Sydney! Sooo comfortable. Loved the ambience, the food, that setting. A special shout-out to our waiter at lunch and dinner, Ricardo, and the restaurant manager ( sadly I don’t know her name) consummate professionals both. Coming from Australia, where pet-friendly places are slowly appearing, what a joy for me to see them welcomed on the terrace and some rooms. My friend and dog stayed in the Garden Room. Wonderful decor and immense outdoor space. If you are planning a visit, don’t hesitate. You will not be disappointed. Thank you, Tresanton.Guest review byCarolAustralia
- From US$193.34 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 2,173 reviewsIts a beautiful property in the grounds of a wood and built into a wooded hill and looked very Scandinavian. Quirky modern interior at reception, clean rooms, fantastic spa, excellent breakfasts. Dinner and lunch very good with friendly, engaging staff who were surprisingly young but everyone had a superb professional and friendly demeanor. Very impressive all round and thankfully the bar staff can make good cocktails.Guest review byTimothyCayman Islands

We had the seaview during a big storm. It was nothing short of spectacular. The staff was really friendly. they showed us two rooms, one was with the best view but a smaller bathroom, the other with a big bathroom but slightly worse view. We opted for the first one.Guest review byhayeNetherlands

Newquay is a lively seaside town with stunning beaches, plenty of places to eat and shop, and a fun coastal vibe. The views from the clifftops are absolutely beautiful and worth the effort, even though I’m not the biggest fan of uphill walks most of the time. Everything feels close to the sea, which gives the town such a relaxed holiday feel, perfect for families, surfers, or anyone wanting a true seaside escape.Guest review byTAMARAUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The beaches were huge, pristine, almost white sand and with great facilities but we particularly loved the amazing Tate gallery and Barbara Hepworth house. We also found that every local person that we met, both in the galleries, shops, restaurants, bars and the wonderful jazz club (The Western Hotel) were extremely friendly, helpful, talented and knowledgeable.Guest review byJaniceUnited Kingdom - 10.0

a very interesting town with a long promenade by the sea , wonderful gardens , small and interesting gallery-museum several worth to see surroundings in one day visits, nice food and pubs. The beaches were easy to reach but the water was dirty. Few hotels, very helpful staff, easy to get around by foot and by train and buses.Guest review byLORA GKIZAGreece - 10.0

I found Falmouth to be a lovely seaside resort lined with many independent shops and eateries in an amazing shopping high street which seemed to go on forever. As well as the usual high street brands, there were shops of every description, some selling Cornish fudge and cream, others with ethnic wares, gifts and souvenirs and handmade items, as well as places teeming with local history. I also loved the harbour and the little nooks and crannies here and there, including Jacobs Ladder (with its 111 steps). I went on a Falmouth ghost walk one evening with a local guide who astonished the group with eerie tales, sightings and played shanties with his accordion. My mother and I sampled some very tasty and freshly cooked fish and chips too, as well as other Cornish delights. Sadly, our visit was too short. We only scratched the surface on this trip, so would definitely visit Falmouth again.Guest review byBevlynUnited Kingdom - 10.0

St Austell town centre is dated and needs some TLC , but around the ring round is everything you need to make your stay great. Big Asda, lots of resteraunts, and the usual chains. There is some amazing beaches, countryside, walks in and around St Austell. And , it's a brilliant base for all things Cornwall, very well connected. Carlyon and Petewan beaches are fantastic. All in all, really good.Guest review byAdamUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Bude - what a beautiful place! Great for surfers, beach-goers, walkers, shoppers and pasty lovers. Ideal for both families and couples. Lovely atmosphere at night, and some nice eating and drinking places. Tidal pools were a bonus and lovely for a relaxing swim. Just an hour away from Padstow, Boscastle, Tintagel and Hartland Abbey.Guest review byJulieUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Apart from the cathedral there was not much else . We had based ourselves in Truro to visit Tresillik National Trust which in spite of being in great location was rather dissappointing having visited Lanhydrock earlier in the day which was superb. The house in Tressilick was very limited and appeared to be mainly used in lieu of the more usual excellent NT restaurant.Guest review byRogerUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Busy Cornish harbour town with plenty of gift shops , takeaways , cafes and restaurants . We ate Fish & Chips at Catch , which we gave 10/10z. We had takeaway from the Peking garden . There are lovely beach cafes at Millandreath & Talland bay !Guest review byAmandaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Padstow is a busy tourist location, early morning is the best time to pop out for breakfast/coffee before the crowds arrive although most places do not open until 10.00 am. The surrounding area has so much more to offer, coastal walks / bicycle rides / paddle boarding and surfing.Guest review byNicolaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Tintagel is wonderful, and it’s very easy to get around, even when travelling to nearby places such as Boscastle. I visited the Old Post Office, an amazing building that is absolutely worth seeing. And, of course, Tintagel Castle! The walk there is spectacular, and the views from the castle are breathtaking. The castle itself is fantastic, with an incredible atmosphere.Guest review byDeboraUnited Kingdom
