- From € 90 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 52 reviewsWe liked absolutely everything in Kyrön loma. We had a very spacious, clean two floor apartment and very comfortable beds. We slept so well! And it was very quiet and peaceful. It was over 26 degrees outside but the apartment was comfortable because we could keep the windows open, thanks to mosquito nets. It was lovely to sit outside, too, and to listen to the silent nature. The interior was from 1990s, which we thought was charming, too. You rarely can visit that time nowadays. We ordered pizza in Kyrön loma and all of them were delicious. The mini market they had was very handy, and very good prices, too. The staff was absolutely wonderful and friendly. And the dog was a very good dog, too 🙂. We walked to Montellin Maja and to Suomen suurin suppea, a very nice not very long hike (a few km) from Kyrön loma, no car needed for that. I highly recommend this place for a nice, peaceful stay near nature.Guest review byNinaFinland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 473 reviewsI had wanted to book Saivaara Cottages a couple of years ago during the Covid nonsense over New Year, but someone obviously booked before I managed to arrange the flights; and whoever booked was unbelievably lucky, because the place is simply fantastic - and we got to enjoy it for 8 days this year before Christmas. Simply put, Saivaara Cottages are wonderful - the accommodation, the owners, the location - everything about the place is superb; and we will be coming again. We have stayed elsewhere in Kilpisjarvi before, but Saivaara Cottages was most definitely worth the wait. Hopefully Saivaara Cottages will have space for us net time.Guest review byRichardUnited Kingdom
- From € 100 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 380 reviewsBeautiful setting for this property and honestly it was a fairy tale. Room was very nice and cosy and shower was warm and relaxing. Had all the facilities we needed and also ample parking for the car. Very quiet surroundings with beautiful views across the lake and the woods. Perfect spot for Aurora Borealis as there's no light pollution. The host was fantastic and very friendly and helpful. She prepared a lovely breakfast for us in the morning and also gave us plenty of info about the places and activities in the area. Would highly recommend staying here! Kiitos!Guest review by24Travelers24United Kingdom

Kilpisjärvi in winter is a magical experience.
Kilpisjärvi in winter is a magical experience. The village is located in the far north of Finland, in the heart of Lapland. It is a popular destination for winter activities such as skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing. The area is also known for its stunning scenery, with snow-covered forests, frozen lakes, and the majestic Saana fell. One of the highlights of a winter trip to Kilpisjärvi is the opportunity to see the Northern Lights. The village is located in an area with minimal light pollution, making it an ideal place to view this natural phenomenon. The Northern Lights can be seen on clear nights throughout the winter, but the best time to see them is during the darkest months of December and January. Kilpisjärvi is also a great place to experience the Sami culture. The Sami are the indigenous people of Lapland, and they have a rich history and culture. There are several Sami villages in the area, and visitors can learn about the Sami way of life by visiting a reindeer farm or a traditional Sami market. Overall, Kilpisjärvi is a wonderful place to visit in winter. It is a great destination for those who want to experience the beauty of Lapland and enjoy a variety of winter activities.Guest review bySujoy GoswamiNetherlands - 10.0
Enontekiö is a large area in north east Finland, and it is...
Enontekiö is a large area in north east Finland, and it is mostly void of people, which is excellent. There are a few villages, like Hetta, commonly called Enontekiö, where you can find everything you need. Enontekiö boasts many of the most dramatic sceneries in Finland, like Saana and Halti fells, in the 'arm' (Käsivarsi), and palsasuot (permafrost-hill mires). It's excellent for hiking, berry- and mushroom-picking, and visiting one or more of the many national parks and Sami sacred places at hand. In Hetta, we stayed at Ounasloma for the 4th time. It is a family-owned holiday cottage business, which provides actual fully-furnished houses with sauna, and the lakeshore is just next door, boats and bikes are at disposal. We had our own food, but one evening we grabbed burgers and chips from the local grillikiosi (opposite k supermarket and alko), and not only was the lady very friendly, but the kioski sells bare necessities and the burgers are huge and excellent. I only wait to go back, discover more of the nature around, and maybe finally climb the Saana fell, which was foggy (and therefore very dangerous) when we were there.Guest review byPia-IngridSwitzerland - 10.0
Nice place for people who like nature, forests and lakes.
Nice place for people who like nature, forests and lakes. Good Finnish sauna and a lake for swimming. Typical countryside Finnish breakfast. As everywhere in Finnish forests there may be some mosquitoes in the summer, on open windy places there are not. If you like outdoor life and countryside, this is a good place for you. The staff was very friendly!Guest review byUllaFinland - 8.0
Hiking trails are well signposted.
Hiking trails are well signposted. The supermarket at the center is very good. Public transport connections could be better but the twice-daily bus to/from Rovaniemi is very reliable. Tour operators organize day tours to the Acrtic Sea in Norway. They sound good but unfortunately were cancelled in summer 2021 due to the covid crap.Guest review byKeijo000Finland - 10.0
Climbing to Saana - of course, the route has been improved.
Climbing to Saana - of course, the route has been improved. Views in Kilpisjärvi area during ruska season are mind-blowing. Tundrea hotel allowed us to swim in Kilpisjärvi, although we didn't stay at Tundrea. There is no common beach in Kilpisjärvi.Guest review byTuulaFinland
