Beutiful restaurants and bars and cafes and all in a lovely area of Alicante. Lots of walking and pet friendly places too and we ate in El Portal, one of our favourite places, nice for a treat and also others found along the way which we would return to.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
Great location for families.
Great location for families. Los locos beach has a playground, beach bar and is easily accessed. Los locos is a short walk along the promenade to La cura beach, where there are more restaurants, shops, and a family friendly beach with paddle boats. There is also another playground on that walk. There is a water park, Friday market and funfair in the area also.Guest review bySineadIreland - 8.0
Denia is a relaxed port town, with ferries to the Balearics...
Denia is a relaxed port town, with ferries to the Balearics and a marina for the super-rich. It is not too large and has a certain, quiet charm. The old town around the foot of the castle was damaged by Germans and Italian bombardment during the fascist war, but retains an original feel and remains attractive. The centre is easy to walk around, and pedestrianisation leads to a comfortable feel. It is on the British tourist trail with some restaurants aimed only at tourists with menus in two languages, and there are too many Irish bars. However, unlike the tourist excesses of Benidorm and other areas not far to the south, this is a Spanish town and not overwhelmed by cheap, tasteless UK tourism associated with the concrete Costas. It would be a comfortable place for a stop-over for a couple of nights, particularly when it is not high season. Walking around in the cool of the morning through the street markets and the central covered market is much calmer and more interesting than the rather predictable and manufactured night-life.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Beach is lovely and sea was quite shallow for a good distance. Water sports available. Beachside bars, restaurants and shops. Nice promenade. Loads of clothes shops, restaurants and bars. Good supermarket. Bus service available. We stayed in the town centre which is very hilly, lot of traffic.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lovely town, but if you want to spend time in the centre, its best to stay in town or have your own transport. If not, a resort hotel is a good choice too. Altea old town is extremely picturesque, with amazing views of the area. The beachfront promenade is also lovely, with plenty of restaurants amd bars to choose from.Guest review byJoiaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We love Javea and in fact lived there for 35 years and have family and friends there. There are three main areas - the old town the Port ((el Puerto) and the beach area (el Arenal). There´s a bus service linking the three, also taxis. There's a lovely sandy beach with a great promenade with lots of shops and restaurants, a popular place to go in the evening when it´s all lit up. Lots of good restaurants but our favourite ic Chabada! In the Port you can watch the fishing boats come home in the afternoon, and the fish being sold. (The place to buy your fresh fish!) Lots of places to have a drive out to visit. Market day in the old town is Thursday. The mountain is called Montgo and from a distance looks like an elephant lying down and looking out to see. (His eye is a cave you can still go into to see prehistoric cave paintings. A great family holiday in a lovely resort where there are quite a lot of English people living all year round. Try a boat trip from the Port.Guest review bysarahUnited Kingdom - 10.0

An authentic Spanish town located north of the city if you follow the tram line with lots of spanish cafes/bars; markets on Sundays and Wednesdays, lots of municipl park playgrounds for children and a wonderful beachfront with a huge selection of restaurants to choose from. The beach has strong waves which are fun for all, but make sure children are supervised -it is important to watch for lifeguard flags as they change the flags depending on currents and tides. The tram station is key for El campello as it links up to alicante and Benidorm also- it is good to get a blue top up travel card in Luceros station in alicante for the tram and you can buy 10 trips at a time or more.Guest review byStephanie - 8.0

A friendly town that has hourly bus connections to Alicante...
A friendly town that has hourly bus connections to Alicante and up the coast. There is also a tram service available that makes it easy to access other towns and cities. We arrived from Alicante airport via taxi and left in two parties - one via bus and the other via tram. Both were excellent services. NB the buses take cash (correct where possible) and there are ticket points available on the tram and at the station. We made use of the supermarkets and general stores in the town, which stocked everything we could have wished for. There are a number of restaurants on the promenade and in the town. It was very hot at the time of our visit, we have school aged children therefore are limited to August, but we chose an air conditioned apartment to ensure we could enjoy time out of the sun in comfort.Guest review byGreenUnited Kingdom
