FAQs about hotels on Rügen
The Island Of Many Faces
Germany’s largest island, Rügen, is situated just off the Pomeranian coast and boasts an abundance of bays, peninsulas and headlands. Its long, sandy beaches and the chalk cliffs of the Jasmund National Park add even more beauty to the mix.
Connected to the mainland by the Strelasund Crossing, which combines 2 modern bridge links, the island is over 51 km long and almost 43 km wide. It’s one of the most popular tourist destinations in Germany because of its watersports facilities, spas and lively piers.
You can get there not only by car but also by ferry, railway or even a charter flight from Berlin or Hamburg. Once arrived, you can choose between several resorts, the most popular of which are Schaabe, Glowe and Breege.
Rügen offers a really diverse landscape and something for every taste: from more crowded and vibrant seaside resorts to quieter and more contemplative villages. The island is mainly agricultural and fishing is its main focus. Therefore you can enjoy fresh herring or mackerel for your dinner!
With over 280 properties on the island of Rügen, Booking.com offers a wide choice between spa hotels, comfortable apartments and friendly guest houses, so dig in and find a perfect place for your holiday.

- From £126.54 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.8Good - What previous guests thought, 2,828 reviewsThis is an exceptional hotel. It has absolutely every facility one might imagine. It was very busy, but still a quiet and pleasantly friendly place to stay. The location is adjacent the promenade alongside the beautiful beach and bay. The town is a delight and all within an easy walk. The choice of refreshments within the hotel is amazing, and within a few metres there is far more available. I can see why this is a truly popular resort! This hotel is one I can happily recommend.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom

The town is very beautiful - nature, architecture, the beach. It's just exceptional, so many places to enjoy! Restaurants are very expensive and the food is either mediocre or really bad. If you really like good food, I'd recommend purchasing products in supermarket and cook at home. Little fish shops with smoked fish is the best food this place has to offer in my opinion.Guest review byAnastasiiaGermany - 10.0

It's cute, tucked away from main tourism. But plenty to do in terms of nature (Nature reserve Jasmund) and also the habour offers quite a number of attractions from sight seeing ship tours to a submarine museum.Guest review byMatthiasNetherlands - 8.0

If you are looking for a peacful place with no many people it is the place for you. It is very small town with one restaurant, one coffee shop. Market is 4 km from the town but there are many cycle paths so there is no problem at all. There are beautifull beaches but there is a problem with dark algae, so if you want to sunbathe you need to cross those algae first. After few days in Breege I am totally relaxed.Guest review byIzabelaPoland - 8.0

Binz is a lovely little seaside town, we love the fischbrotchen and cycling culture. You can get around on foot easily, the beach is well divided and organized, and you can get around by bus or train. Clean public restrooms are everywhere. Dont come for party life, but definitely for relax, no matter the weather. Dont forget to add lunch at Karls Erdbeerhof to your Rugen bucket list.Guest review byevie8vSlovakia - 10.0

Sassnitz was a lively, coastal holiday town with beautiful, large villas. The beech wood had lots of trails and was pretty but the chalk cliffs were spectacular along with the colour of the Baltic Sea. There is a small zoo which is very new with not many animals but the silver fox was exceptionally handsome.Guest review byKateAustralia - 10.0

A wonderful place with beach, restaurants and white sand to relax and rejuvenate yourself. A Hidden Gem with Incredible Scenery - Dranske Municipality
A Hidden Gem with Incredible Scenery - Dranske Municipality During our stay in Rügen, we had the pleasure of exploring the charming municipality of Dranske. A small, picturesque community spanning 20.79 km², it is home to a modest population of 1,127 (as of March 2019). Nestled 3.0 meters above sea level, Dranske offers breathtaking views, including the cliffs of the Danish island Møn on clear days. The municipality includes several beautiful areas such as Dranske, Banz, Bug, Dranske-Hof, Goos, Gramtitz, Kreptitz, Kuhle, Lancken, Nonnevitz, and Starvitz, each with its unique charm. Dranske's rich history adds to its appeal. First mentioned in 1314 in a list of prince's taxes collected by a Brunswick knight, Dranske has a history that intertwines with the broader Rügen Island. The district of Nonnevitz was even documented earlier in 1193 when Jaromar I, Prince of Rügen, donated it to the Cistercian Monastery in Bergen. Today, Dranske is a testament to the island's historical richness and natural beauty. It's a fantastic place to unwind, explore, and get a taste of the idyllic Rügen life. I highly recommend a visit! Breege is a quiet fishing village, makes a great base to explore the area. I am not sure how full it gets in summer as there are many holiday homes around. I would stay in Breege again. I'd say it's more for families and peoples who don't seek partying. The area is good for a beach holiday, fishing, boating, cycling, hiking and watersports. Breege- Juliusruh is smaller than the other resorts on Rügen and by accounts from others doesnt get overcrowded in the summer months.Guest review byHeikeGermany
