Unique place with charm and amazing host clearly exceeding our expectations. We have arrived in the evening hungry after all day cycling from Berlin and host proactively thought about us and prepared dinner with big variety to choose from! Elb view from the window is amazing! I so enjoyed sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine, watching the river. Trees, flowers, fresh air... this hotel is so calm and relaxing, worth every penny! Breakfast is also the best of the best! Very impressed and would come again. Thank you!

Lenzen, Germany, lacks a good restaurant.

Lenzen, Germany, lacks a good restaurant. The town has one discount supermarket, Netto, which offers cheap products of mediocre quality. There is a bakery opposite the supermarket with standard items. The breakfast rolls with cheeses and ham are okay but nothing special. I attempted to visit a tapas bar called 'Mike's'. Despite arriving early at around 5 PM, I, along with a couple who arrived at the same time, were turned away, being told it was fully booked, even though approximately 90% of the tables were empty. While I understand that guests may have been booked for later, it would be helpful if the restaurant considered two sittings in the evening. As I was dining alone, I would have finished within 45 minutes. The waitress greeted us in an unfriendly manner and was dismissive, which was off-putting. Although I was staying in Lenzen for a week and would have booked for another evening, her attitude discouraged me, and I would never return. Lenzen presents a rather sad impression. The beautiful old 'fachwerk' or half-timbered historic houses are crumbling, lending the village a certain charm but also a sense of decay. There seems to be little to retain residents, and the village is visibly deteriorating. This is unfortunate, as Lenzen has much to offer with its wonderful location, cobbled lanes and alleys, a beautiful lake, the Elbe River, and stunning surrounding countryside for walking and cycling. On a positive note, all the local people I met were very friendly and helpful. This was a sentiment shared by everyone in our group, which made our interactions in Lenzen more pleasant.
