The location, the swimming pool, my baby enjoyed a lot in the swimming pool. The staffs were very helpful. In reception Becky was very much helpful. It was my birthday organised a cake that was sweet of her. Manager Eric was also helpfull.

After 2 weeks on Santiago this is the only place I genuinely would recommend. First of all, the location. The famous Plateau is good only for a very short visit. This area is much nicer, safer, more relaxed. There are a lot of beautiful and colorful houses around, as well as many really nice restaurants / bars and the central beach (which is really good!) - all within 15 min walk max. The owner of the hotel really pays attention to every single detail. The staff is not just friendly, they are also very professional and truly understand what does it mean to work in HoReCa (which is rarely the case on Santiago unfortunately!) My stay was super comfortable and I appreciated that everyone was going above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and relaxed. I was very touched when I didn’t feel too well and the owner made sure to constantly check on me and provide me with everything and anything needed. The restaurant and bar by the hotel are very nice as well, overall it felt like a very fair value for money and I wish I’d make this place my main base during my trip.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Very spacious, clean and comfortable rooms. Very tasty all-you-can-eat breakfast on rhe roof top terrace with stunning views at the sea and the island Fogo. It is obvious that this is a new hotel or a new room. The elevator was not working when we arrived. It was difficult to get through to the staff at night, but then they opened the gate for us. The breakfast is great! especially the coffee and local dishes. But the room needs more equipment: a bedside table only on one side of the bed. Hot drinks are important in the mountains, but there is no kettle. The lighting is very cold. There is a refrigerator, but it is very noisy. The Internet does not work well in the room, although the router is nearby. Nowhere is it written what time breakfast is and what is the password for Wi-Fi

Very central. Walking distance to restaurants. Lilly and Elton at Reception were very helpful. They advised me how to go to Tarrafal and Cidade Velha with local buses which was a super idea. Internet Wifi was excellent. I was able to do a Teams call and it was fine. The room i booked had a balcony which faced the main road. I thought it would be noisy but was fine and the noise cut out. It is great for those who are smokers. Overall a good hotel to stay.

    Crowded and chaotic city, far from the peaceful atmosphere...

    Crowded and chaotic city, far from the peaceful atmosphere found on the other Cape Verde islands. The local population generally doesn’t speak English and often seems offended if you don’t speak to them in Portuguese. Tourists are frequently stared at, which can make you feel a bit out of place, and the overall impression is that visitors aren’t always welcome. We had a bad experience in Praínha, where persistent children came up asking for money, while older men seemed to be eyeing our bags left on the towels. We ended up having to leave immediately by taxi. Outside of the Plateau—the only area recommended for tourists and heavily patrolled by military and police—you don’t really feel safe.

    Tarrafal by itself is nice to visit for a few days.

    Tarrafal by itself is nice to visit for a few days. Beach, good restaurants, you can do hikes on Monte Graciosa, and Tras os Montes. Restaurant 'chez mama' has some hiking maps. And good food too. I spent most of my time fishing. From the rocks at Punta Atum, of from a boat. One thing to keep in mind. Tarrafal in August is hot. You can go up to Serra Malagueta where it is cooler. But rainy in August.

    Nice beach, clean but poor surroundings.

    Nice beach, clean but poor surroundings. The proximity with the airport (35 min.) makes it a potential nice destination. The city should promote more actively the destination in order to attract developers which could renew the houses we can see from the beach and which are falling apart. Hopefully in the future this can be done and attract more visitors and have additional hotels. The potential exists.

    Actually I’m a Nigerian.

    Actually I’m a Nigerian. When I traveled there I found it difficult to communicate in Cape Verde due to I can’t speak Portuguese. But there are another islands that they do speak English there. in this country 99% people speaks Portuguese. So that’s just my experience. But the was nice and peaceful

    Very cosy little town with nice beach and friendly local people. You can eat very affordable in local bars/restaurants or choose European food in couple of restaurants. The center is quite small, so you walk around easy. Beach is nice and not too much people.

    If you are visiting the islands of Cabo Verde, do Praia...

    If you are visiting the islands of Cabo Verde, do Praia first. The beaches are a far cry from the ones in Boa Vista or Sal. It is nice to go to Cidade Velha which is a UNESCO site 12km away. It is really picturesque and is the first place the portugese landed in 1462. Absolutely worth a visit.
