St Moritz is a "to-do" once in your life.
St Moritz is a "to-do" once in your life. There are lots of shops, good restaurants and great scenery BUT without skiing and the winter landscape St Moritz is not that special - nice place to visit but over-priced - one day and one-night during summer is sufficient to scratch the visitor's itch. Staying at St Moritz-bad is a bit cheaper whilst still close to everything and an easy walk to the big-name shops and good restaurants. Getting around by local bus (including to-from Bahnhof) is super easy, except the on-bus electronic ticket machines can be difficult. We stayed one-night and one-day and thoroughly enjoyed it.Guest review byAllanAustralia - 8.0

Pontresina is a pretty little town and so much nicer, more picturesque and less expensive than say, St Moritz, unless you are after the glamour and „status“ that comes with mixing with the jet-setters there. The main reason we have always stayed here though is the central location with easy access to and from anywhere in the Engadine and its attractive side valleys. Come here for nature and outdoor activities, not for shopping or night life 🙂Guest review byAlanSwitzerland - 10.0
Great place to stay if you are visiting St Moritz.
Great place to stay if you are visiting St Moritz. If you are staying in St Moritz Samedan is a great option because it’s cheaper, only 7 minutes away by train and many hotels are just a short walk from the railway station unlike in St Moritz where you will have to take a bus or a taxi if you have luggage to get to the hotelGuest review byArunIndia - 10.0

There is a great local bakery : Bäckerei / Konditorei Piccolo (Bakery / Pastry).... we visited a couple of times to get filled rolls and drinks to take with us on trips up the mountains. The lady who works there was incredible helpful and friendly even though we had a slight language barrier with me only speaking English. Our fussy teen through the rolls were very tasty. The local buildings are full of history and a walk around the town provides interesting anecdotes to times gone by, written on several buildings. The wild flower meadows in June are beautiful and we found trips up into the mountains well worth it... they are spectacular in the summer.Guest review byGraemeUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Silvaplana is very small and quiet village: supermarket, bakery, ski shop and a couple of restaurants. Cross country ski trails are 10 min walk across the bridge and there are regular buses to take you around to nearby villages. It was perfect place for star gazing and having quality family time :)Guest review byAlonaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

A classic hotel with history, which alone makes it worth spending the night there. In addition, in a fantastic location that in the past was only accessible to the happy few. The hotel seems to have aged a bit, but the comfortable rooms, grandeur and views make it worth a visit. an excellent place to start mountain tours or bike tours and explore the Engadin.Guest review byMarcelGermany - 10.0
Family friendly, down to earth place.
Family friendly, down to earth place. Beautiful old village with amazing large houses. Skiing great, free ski bus. Small ski bar on top of Albanas. Several shops in Zuoz. Good restaurants (Crush Alva and Dorta). Muottas Muragl is worth a visit in good weather.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
A True Swiss Gem
A True Swiss Gem Nestled in the heart of the mountains, this place is pure alpine bliss. The sound of cowbells, the crisp mountain air, and the best raclette I’ve ever had—made from cheese crafted on-site by their own master cheesemaker. A truly unforgettable Swiss experience.Guest review byDoriaUnited States - 6.0
Very expensive town with a mixture of nice Swiss...
Very expensive town with a mixture of nice Swiss architecture and horrible apartment blocks that look they come from North Korea. Very expensive and in some ways, hard to see what the fuss is about. There are many nice towns in Europe and this was not the prettiest. It's famous for people who are rich and famous but if that's not you, I'd suggest skipping it.Guest review byKarlUnited States - 10.0
We stayed in Pontresina for 5 nights in early October.
We stayed in Pontresina for 5 nights in early October. It is a charming town. We arrived by train, and Pontresina makes an excellent place to stay if you want to experience the Bernina Express train journey. The railway station is within walking distance of most of the accommodation, but it would be a struggle with luggage. Our hotel had its own vehicle for transfers, I think most hotels offer the same. When we were there (early October) most of the other travellers were Swiss. While there were plenty of options in terms of restaurants, most visitors were outdoor/ nature loving folk who went for a quiet meal in the evening and then got a good night’s sleep. So the town was very quiet at night, which suited us perfectly. A pass for local transport: trains/ busses/ furnicular railways/ cable cars was included in our hotel tarrif, and this was fabulous. From Pontresina we walked to St Moritz one day and enjoyed the St Moritz cable car, then returned to Pontresina by bus. On another day we caught the train Bernina Diavolezza and the cable car to view the Morteratsch Glacier. We used the “Komoot” app to find other hikes.Guest review byKathrynAustralia
