Fribourg is not a large town but there are a few very interesting things to do. The museums are quite fantastic and have much to offer. There are many walks including up the hill to the Chapelle de Lorette. As a Catholic town, there are some fascinating relics and history at the local churches. As a bilingual city, its fascinating to hear French, Swiss German, and a decent amount of Italian all at the same time. The food scene is quite nice and not as expensive as other places in Switzerland.Guest review byKristian - 10.0

Bulle has been a stopping off point for several years now - it's a wonderful small town with a very nice centre. There's a choice of several good hotels and there are plenty of restaurants. The local cheese fondue is a must!Guest review byAndreasFrance - 10.0

It's a very attractive little lakeside town with a medieval centre, including intact and walkable fortification wall, and lots of nice places to eat. It is well-connected transport-wise for visits to nearby attractions like the roman ruins in Avenches or the (really well-worth visiting) 12th century abbey in Payerne. Lake boats ply daily (in summer) to Neuchatel.Guest review byMartinSwitzerland - 6.0

Tiny Gruyères is better suited for a daytime visit than an overnight stay. Food options are pricey and few between, with limited menus and no activities after dark. Better options for your stay would probably be in nearby Bulles.Guest review bygermeskernashUnited States - 10.0

We hiked to the peak.
We hiked to the peak. It pushed the limits of our 11 year old. Was just about perfect for our 14 and 16 year olds. We took plenty of breaks and round trip was like 6 or 7 hours. Lots of cows with bells on. Excellent views from the top. We hiked up counter clockwise along the loop. This put the rocky less pretty views on the first 1/2 of the hike. It was nice to have the more scenic views on the way down while we were tired. We should have started right in the morning as there was full sun exposure for almost the whole hike. Also, if it had rained or something there wouldn't have been much good cover.Guest review byMichaelGermany - 10.0
Montbovon is a small village nestled between two villages.
Montbovon is a small village nestled between two villages. There isn't much to see - it's a convenient stopping off point for you to explore the Fribourg area without paying too much in accommodation fees. In terms of food choices, you'd be better off either eating at the hotel, or going to a nearby town to buy food before heading back to your hotel. That being said, the area is GORGEOUS in winter, and if you time your visit correctly, you can see the glorious mountains around you covered in snow.Guest review byDarylSingapore - 10.0

We had afternoon coffee and cake and breakfast at a local Cafe called Suard. Definitely a place for locals. The cake and breads were fabulous. Service exceptional. The area is quite industrial but in the foothills of forest and the countryside. Perhaps a 10 minute drive from the picturesque city of Fribourg which we sadly didn't have time to visit. We ate dinner in the Escale restaurant and could not fault anything, service, food and incredibly authentic and delicious. If you get a chance to stay Saturday night your in for a real treat as 200+ ladies and gentlemen descend on the Hall for 'Bingo' night. wonderfully old school and everyone really friendly.Guest review byLucieUnited Kingdom - 8.0
A quiet town, if you want nightclubs this isn't the place,...
A quiet town, if you want nightclubs this isn't the place, but has everything most people will need. Trains/buses go from the station down a steep hill from the main street. Romont is a stop on the faster InterRegio SBB trains so getting to/from other parts of Switzerland is easy. Romont has both Coop and Migros/Denners supermarkets. For emergency supplies on Sundays the convenience shop next to the station is a reasonable size. The old walls and tower are worth a look. I spent my days hiking and unfortunately didn't get to the stained glass museum. Gruyeres and the Cailler chocolate factory in Broc short train rides away - I walked off a cheese overdose hiking the fairly short distance from Gruyeres to Broc. A bus ride towards Jaun is worthwhile and the chairlift up the Gastlosen takes you up to some good hiking, and cooler conditions in hot weather. The hike along the leg of the Via Jacobi from Romont to Moudon is an easy 13km but doesn't have much shade so remember the sun screen.Guest review byPamelaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

It is a small city but has amazing vibe where diversity meets. I went for business visit and could see lot of people from other countries have settled or visiting this location. The architecture and the city view is amazing. The train station has access to major cities and good enough to stay for a cozy travelers.Guest review bySaravana GopalanNetherlands
