Porto Alegre is a great city.
Porto Alegre is a great city. It is nice to see that the areas affected by 2024 tragedy have been completed restored. Food is superb. The meat is specially superior to other places in Brazil. The parks are well maintained, downtown still has a comercial stance. I could find great food shops as well as fine restaurants in Mercado Público. The Guaíba margin contains a nice park besides restaurants and bars. Downtown has several historical buildings and bookshops.Guest review byALUISIOBrazil - 8.0

The safest "big" city in Brazil (state capital), it has everything you may want, combines nature and beaches with city life and culture. August was a bit cold still (15C during the night, 20C during the day), and a bit rainy. But I believe September would be the perfect time to visit. November until March is where the city is crowded with tourists, and June to August is the real winter. So either April/May or September/October is ideal.Guest review byJoao PauloNetherlands - 10.0

It was a great stay, be aware that this is long distance (Brazilian standard) from the beach where is all the fun, but it takes you around 10-20min uber drive to get there (depends on traffic). Friendly staff. You get what you pay for.Guest review byJoseVenezuela - 10.0

Joinville is well worth a visit.
Joinville is well worth a visit. A city of Germanic culture and arquitecture, good coffee/teashops, good food, good local beer (OPA) friendly people, it has plenty to offer the visitor. One can do a walking city tour of some of the city main historic and modern attractions. Close (1 hour or less by car) to some of Santa Catarina’s coastal beaches and towns, Joinville is arguably the capital of best health care in the South of Brazil and, in some particular cases, best in the country The city is a proud home of Sadalla Amin Ghanem Eye Hospital, long established as the top Eye Hospital in South America with international reputation recognised as world reference in eye care. This hospital has impressive top class facilities and equipment and an equally impressive medical body of specialists in every eye condition. People travel across the world to come here for eye treatment and surgery. It is indeed the very top in the field. Service there is very efficient and impressive. Highly recommend nationally and internationally.Guest review byIzaBrazil - 10.0
Canela and Gramado are a lot of fun!
Canela and Gramado are a lot of fun! they are located in a high plateau (Serra Gaucha) at 800/900 meters above sea level. A strange mix of Bavarian and Italian immigration processed by a lot of Brazilian immagination. In between a a Bavarian town with scattered pieces of Dysneyland surrounded by waterfalls and araucarias. zillions of restaurants on offer.Guest review byMauroItaly - 10.0
My First Time meet Curitiba City
My First Time meet Curitiba City When I found out that two of my favorite American punk rock/HC bands, Circle Jerkys and Descendents, were going to tour Brazil, but they wouldn't be playing shows in my city, I knew I had to travel to see them. There was a date scheduled for São Paulo and another for Curitiba, but due to the situation at the airports due to the flooding that year, I decided to buy a ticket for Curitiba because of the price less, proximity and lower demand. In October, when Salgado Filho Airport reopened, I didn't waste any time and bought a ticket, then booked a hotel. I've always been curious about the city of Curitiba, because it seemed like a cool, cultural and organized city, in addition to having a strong skateboarding and underground culture. The day before the show, I traveled and when I arrived I met a friend who had come by bus. After checking into the hotel, we decided to walk to a famous local skate park, so that we could get to know the city better. Curitiba is similar to Porto Alegre in some ways, it's a big city but with the structure of a small town, the places are relatively close together and it has lots of trees, but it's more organized, clean and apparently safer. The people are very friendly and the local food is delicious. One day I went to the municipal market and ate "carne de onça", a typical dish made with seasoned raw meat, and I liked it "lol". There are also many influences from Arab and Oriental cuisine, and there are several restaurants that specialize in it. The night of the show was incredible, the place was as big as a shopping mall, with food trucks, shops and a tattoo studio (I even got one "lol") and watching these two embryonic bands of my lifestyle was amazing. I came back fulfilled, with the certainty that I will return another time.Guest review byThiagoBrazil
