We chose this location as a base for the Rila 7 lakes walk as it is close to the chairlift. Panichishte is a very small place - just a few hotels and a tourist office - and so we were delighted that the restaurant at 103 Alpine turned out to be really excellent and very reasonably priced. The rooms are modern, quiet and well equipped and the beds very comfortable. We didnt really take advantage of the spa but it also looked very modern and is no doubt a big plus during the ski-ing season.

Everything was awesome! Staff was extremely friendly, and helped with every single request I had. They have their own taxi driver, so for approx 15€ for one way, they drives us to lift to the hike path 7 rila lakes, and then took us back. They even drove us back to Sofia. Spa area was amazing, there were no a lot of people, so it felt almost empty. There were several jacuzzi with mineral water, swimming pool for adult and for children. Highly recommend. Breakfast was very good, they even served champagne for breakfast.

Very central location - in the city centre, next to the Teatre, the pedestrian zone, the museums and the bus terminal. Very large and comfortable room with AC, nice bathroom and fantastic view towards the mountain. Exceeded by far my expectations! The hotel was so good, that the next hotel I stayed in, in Sofia, was, in comparison, disappointing.

It had a unique outdoor pool with hot mineral water and a greenhouse like cover above to keep warm. This made it feel like a hot pool and steam room in one. We enjoyed it lot. The rooms were spacious and comfortable.

    We had an amazing experience at Emaly 2. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The rooms were spacious, clean, and equipped with all the necessary facilities. The food in the restaurant was delicious, and as a bonus, we had the best waiter who was on his first working day - very funny and helpful and made our experience even better.     Very good village.If you want thermal spa this village is for you.Good choice for us to cross the boarder in Skopje,North Macedonia.Dupnitsa can be reach 20 mins by bus.Kyustendil is one hour away from Dupnitsa by bus where you can take a bus to Rila monastery and Skopje.

    It is a magical remote location situated in an amazing forest.Clean, fresh air and beautiful forest of tall pine trees. Very well maintained and cute surroundings. It is not exactly a village but a remote location with few mountain hotels .Perfect for hiking to the Seven Rilla Lakes or other less difficult hikes.You need a car for sure but there are also buses from Sofia passing through.The lift is far for a walking distance .It is around 6.5 km from there.

    Kyustendil is small town but beautiful and with many things to do there. You can go to the Osogovo mountain to ski, or to hike, there is a breathtaking views on the top. Nice places to eat are: Chainata, Tihiat kut, Hotel Ramira, Mayorskata kushta and ect. Visit the museum of Vladimir Dimitrov - maistora. The historical museum offers a lot to be seen as well. Go to spa! The mineral waters in Kyustendil are very healing and do not miss to enjoy the open water pools with hot water especially in winter time.

    This is the iconic monastery of Bulgaria.

    This is the iconic monastery of Bulgaria. It is free and well worth the visit. It should only take you about two hours to see the whole monastery. Make sure to out the back side of the monastery and buy some makitsa.

    Rila Monastery is a 30 minute drive away from the small and quiet village of Stob. There is nothing much to do in Stob (only one restaurant), but the hike to + view of the earth pyramids (Stobski Piramidi) is great, and Guest House Argacho is a fabulous place to stay!

    We especially enjoyed the hot springs and that it's close enough for a trip to the seven rila lakes. The town itself is pretty quiet, we've been at the beginning of july and there weren't a lot of turists. Out stay was during the week (wednesday-friday).

    Very friendly and helpful staff, great car parking, comfortable bed, good wifi, nice swimming pool (a little on the small side). Very good breakfast with a good choice of different options. On the down side, no lift, no air-conditioning and a little deceptive to mention that the Rila Monastery was about 16km away...not CLEARLY mentioning that this is in a straight line. It is a one and a half hour drive..... 😔

    Kyustendil is not really a tourism city.

    Kyustendil is not really a tourism city. Street names are in Bulgarian only; there are lots of restaurants on the square, but none had a menu in any language other than Bulgarian. There are not many attractions, but most are located within walking distance of the main square.

    There was enough to see at the monastary, even though most museums there seemed no to be open (it was February!). Entrance is free but be ready to pay 5 levs for parking (you do get all day for that). The area has dramatic scenery with some other things to see other than just the Monastary. We visited the grave of James Baucher and discovered why Sofia has a station named after this Irishman!

    Quaint little Spa town and you can see they are trying to modernise it. I enjoyed the location as I wanted a spa break, a few days is enough though as there is not a lot to do in the town itself, That said the surrounding hills are great for walking etc
