I regularly stay at the Alpha for work and really like it. It doesn’t have the charm and prestige of the Kronacker but I prefer the Alpha. Beds are better in my opinion, rooms are clean and modern, breakfast is amazing, there is a parking available and service is impeccable :-)

EVERYTHING was superb. It's a new hotel but staff has been really well trained, friendly and genuine. Adam of breakfast service was a top fellow. Made for a great experience! Very good coffee. Restaurant menu perfect, chicken Cesar Salad the best! Views, stunning location, amazing interiors, comfort and style in every inch of this fantastic hotel. Elegant but not pretentious.     Everything. The different types and temperatures of saunas, steambaths, jaccuzis, and the pools. The area is a bit remote, but we think that was a good thing. We knew it was a place without swimsuits, but we were not aware it was a bathrobe only restaurant as well (the same restaurant for breakfast). We didn't mind, but others might need a warning. Also, remember to bring slippers for the spa (they do sell some if you forget). Bathrobes and towels are provided. The window in the room opens, and the hotel even thought of putting mosquito net in front of it. And if you book an overnight with breakfast, you get 2 whole days of spa access ( both the day you arrive and the day you leave) . And remember to hydrate if you use the saunas🙂.

    We arrived on a Sunday and the taxi dropped us out of town...

    We arrived on a Sunday and the taxi dropped us out of town as traffic is restricted on a Sunday jeez indded! It took 30 minutes to trundle our suitcases to the hotel. So, after that initial mishap and feeling like we were in the Truman Show, we thawed and thoroughly enjoyed our 3 days in the city. Lovely people, restaurants and bars. Special shout to De Hoorn restaurant and Malz bar.

    Our stay was disappointing due to poor cleanliness, inadequate amenities, and understaffing, with malfunctioning air conditioning and privacy breaches. Its inconvenient location led to frequent transportation issues, and unhelpful staff showed little concern despite complaints. Overall, the experience was far from comfortable or restful, and we do not recommend this hotel.

    Zaventem is close to the airport - our main reason for...

    Zaventem is close to the airport - our main reason for choosing this town. It is an easy journey by train into Brussels central which I would recommend because traffic and parking is difficult. We had a 50% weekend pass so the return trip for both of us was Euros 10.

    Vilvoorde is a beautiful city.

    Vilvoorde is a beautiful city. I love to go for walks and just about walked everywhere. There are many parks, rivers, creeks, a canal, and many paths to walk on. Vilvoorde has done a magnificent job at keeping the area very green and walkable.

    Room was stinking with some horrible smell &there was not enough tea or coffee in the tray. In bathroom there was no hand soap. I reported to the receptionist he gave another room but that was not done looked like someone was there as the bed was not done(clean) properly so I had to return the key and stay in the same room.

    Machelen, offers limited attractions for visitors. The area is primarily residential and industrial, with few tourist or cultural options. Costs in the region can be high, and the available dining options are not particularly noteworthy. Unless you have a specific work commitment, there are few compelling reasons to include Machelen in your travel itinerary.

    Lovely town, the abbey is GORGEOUS!

    Lovely town, the abbey is GORGEOUS! So many great, relaxing places to stroll. We walked around the Prinsenbos and met a man named Didier Francois (a musician) who very kindly talked to us about the 'lost wax' casting class he was teaching. Highly recommend eating at Fenikshof, and definitely sampling the beers from the Abbey

    It was central to all that we wanted to see and do. Having a car is important, it makes getting around easier. We did take a hop on hop off bus, as we do in most cities so that it will help us to know more of the history as well saving us a lot of walking. At our ages 77 & 72 walking all day isn't easy. In one day in Bruges, we visited the Grote Markt (Market Square) where we ate lunch, where my husband wanted to try climbing the Belfry tower [366 stairs]but the tickets were sold out and we explored Burg Square and its landmarks. Wish we had taken a canal cruise. For fun we visited the Bruges museum in virtual reality. We ate at several restaurants and found the food very good. For us the Thai restaurant was the best.

    Diest is really understated.

    Diest is really understated. There are some lovely historic parts of the town to explore, the Grand Place has some very good restaurants and it's surrounded by beautiful countryside. It's a very calm, peaceful place to visit. Our favourite restaurant was Nicky's Catwalk in the Grand Place.
