Located to the west of Kakadu National Park on the Mary River floodplains, Bamurru Plains is a unique bush camp teeming with bird and animal life. It offers bungalows set amongst native bushland.

Beautiful location, fabulous staff, great food, pleasant pool on the deck, nice room with amazing views, wallabies and water buffalo wandering around. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed meeting the team and other guests. The trips were very good and it was nice to have a drink and canapés at sunset at a different (always stunning) location each evening. The airboats were great fun and we loved skimming across the water to see the plethora of bird and plant life, the binoculars in the room were a nice extra touch. Overall a great experience.

A better plan when arriving from Kakadu would be to immediately visit the museum and Purple Mango brewery, do the sunset billabong trip, have a meal at the Tavern and spent the night at the Tavern Park, and left for Darwin the next day, doing a jumping croc tour and visiting Fogg Dam on the way.

Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge is out of the way and immersed in nature. It's a great location to relax and unwind and we did not miss the tv or wi-fi. The Saloon bar and restaurant is a great service provided by the Lodge and the food served there for dinner was delicious.
The staff know the area and can easily recommend things to see and do. They were friendly and professional.

What a stunning place.
What a stunning place. We spotted at least 14 crocs up close and found the houseboat to be comfortable and adequate for our needs as a family of 5. Cooking up breakfast from the deck at sunrise while watching the river and billabong come to life - priceless.

Cabins are very sparsely equipped.
Cabins are very sparsely equipped. No cooking or coffee facilities. I would only recommend this place for the grey nomads with their toilet, shower and cooking in caravan or totally self-sufficient campers. Be aware there is no tv, wifi or phone reception. Restaurant may not be open at all.
