- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Excellent - What previous guests thought, 269 reviewsReutte is a small town over the border from Germany in Austria. We stayed there between visiting Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein castles and Linderhof Palace. It was a 20 minute drive from Hohenschwangau. The hotel had free parking on site. They had two parking lots, one behind the hotel and a smaller one across the street. There are signs at each parking lot letting you know it belongs to the hotel. We were able to check-in with the German confirmation provided by booking.com (they spoke a little English). Our room was way more spacious than we expected. We booked for 3 adults. It had two bedrooms each with a queen size bed, a small sitting area, shelving for luggage and clothes and a balcony. The room had a separate toilet room and a room with a shower and sink. It also had a full kitchen (although it was closed we could make use of the refrigerator). There was also a table and chairs and a living room with a TV. Very nice. The hotel looked like there was an older section and a newer section, I think we were in the newer section. Breakfast was provided and was buffet style. There were cereals, meats and cheeses and bread, yogurts, juice, eggs. Everything was great.Guest review byMeghanUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 195 reviewsWe had a wonderful time at the property! It was the perfect place for our family (six adults). The kitchen was well stocked so we were able to enjoy breakfasts around the kitchen table and dinners on the well-appointed patio. An amenity we did not expect - there was an assortment of wines, beers, and other refreshments available for purchase which was especially nice on the evening of our arrival. On our second evening there was an issue with not having hot water - apparently the boiler was having technical difficulties. We emailed the owners at 22:30, and by 9:30 the next morning the technician had already been there to fix the issue. The owner's responsiveness was impressive which we so appreciated! The location is amazingly situated - about 25 minutes from Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau (just over the border in Germany) and only about 10 minutes from Ehrenberg castle, fortress, and ruins. Our time at the chalet was magical - thank you to the owners and our host Gerda!Guest review byAnneUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Excellent - What previous guests thought, 284 reviewsWe loved that this place was so kid friendly! There was a play place for small children that our 2 year old granddaughter loved! Our rooms were comfortable. Gabi was so accomodating and helpful! Each morning at breakfast our table was ready for us with a highchair. We enjoyed everything we ate at the restaurant for dinner. I especially loved the spatzle and the wiener schnitzel. While staying here, we visited the Neuschwanstein Castle, Hohenschwangau Castle, Ehrenberg Castle ruins, and the suspension footbridge, and the Hotel Maximilian was a great location!Guest review byLemmonUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 1,364 reviewsWe used this hotel as a pitstop, it would be suitable also for a few days exploring. The staff were really excellent, both friendly and professional. We had a very lovely room on the top floor with amazing views of the mountains. Room was a decent size with large bathroom ensuite. Restaurant was first class. Free car parking which is always a bonus.Guest review byChrisUnited Kingdom

It is a beautiful area with many nice walks to do. We were there when it was snowing and the frozen ice and snow was beautiful. The ski field is very close by, however the slopes are very challenging and only suitable for those who have grown up on skis.Guest review byReginaNew Zealand - 8.0
I would recommend the high wire for an adventure.
I would recommend the high wire for an adventure. The view of Reutte from above is amazing. And the history of the castle ruins gives an incite to life in the area long ago. There are also very beautiful lakes for walks and the alps for hiking and skiing.Guest review byDiannaAustralia
