Gosau had everything we needed for a wonderful, relaxing holiday - a grocery store, multiple restaurants, beautiful views, friendly people, and many trails for hiking, biking, and walking. Recommendation: For kids - Geister Wald (Ghost forest) - 4,5km long hike with fun activities for kids. Our kids loved them. Just to be aware - you need to pick up from the info center a map where kids could get stamps and also you need 2euro coin to get a wooden ball from the machine you can find just at the start of the hike. Gosau is getting really popular among the tourist who want to visit places in Austria. Closer to Hallstatt, it offers serenity and options to hike, do rock climbing and ride mountain bikes. This is lovely village in both winter and summer. Beautifully unspoilt by no big touring companies taking over, and the tourist accomodation is predominantly private. Gosau is charming with its mountain range and landscape. Very relaxing and refreshing. It is a small, but beautiful village with not many restaurants there. Restaurant Moosalm offers tasty and comfort food with good price and super freindly staff, don't miss a chance to try!! Gosau is very close to Hallstatt.
