Best stay we had in sri lanka (or maybe ever on holidays)! Kindest family and Dilanga is a perfect host. Great sri lankan breakfast, lunch and dinners (and fresh juices) available, you will have the cute and calm beach in front of the garden to yourself during the weekend, perfect for kids, in the weekend friendly locals join. The rooms are clean and cool down during the night. We could even take warm showers with a view on the lighthouse. Location is perfect to visit everything in the area without having to stay in mass tourism. Dilanga also arranged a visit at the national cinnamon research center, very high recommend. Our stay was perfect! We would advise everyone who likes to go just off the beaten path not to miss out on this genuine experience. (We stayed here for 6 nights (to short!) with 2 kids, 2,5y and 0,5y, and we all had the best time, by the time we left home it felt like leaving our new gained family behind)

The pool was phenomenal and the staff were so kind and helpful! We got two free bottles of water and lots of tips of what to do in Matara. I would highly recommend this stay for anyone!

We had a truly lovely stay at Nomads Hideaway. The villa is peaceful, beautifully designed, and surrounded by greenery, giving it a calm, tucked-away feeling. It’s clear that a lot of thought and care went into creating this space—from the natural materials to the cozy layout and relaxing garden nook. The hosts were kind, welcoming, and available when needed, which made everything feel easy and relaxed. Although it’s just a short distance from Matara and the beach, the villa feels like a quiet sanctuary—ideal for resting, reading, or simply being present. We only stayed for two nights but felt deeply nourished by the experience. We’d happily return for a longer stay next time. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful and soulful place to recharge.

We tried both rooms and had an excellent, restful experience at Ruvee Nature Rest. Everything is true to photos. The room is spacious, the furniture is beautiful, everything is clean, our warm & friendly host Dinu is also a WhatsApp text away if we needed anything. Beds were so comfortable and towels were soft & fluffy. Do remember to bring along your own shower gel & shampoo. Breakfast was delicious and of great value! There's also a self-catering area along the corridor with a stove, kettle, sink, etc. if you want to make a cup of tea and enjoy the view. Great location close to restaurants, supermarkets and Mirissa Beach, yet very quiet at night. Wished we could've stayed longer!

An Authentic Stay with a Heartfelt Purpose I recently stayed at Sheru Guest in Matara, and it was truly a memorable experience. This charming guesthouse offers more than just a cozy place to stay – it comes with a beautiful mission. Owned by a warm, welcoming Catholic family, Sheru Guest supports the local community by contributing a portion of its earnings to aid underprivileged families in the area. It was wonderful to know that my stay was part of something meaningful, helping fund education, healthcare, and essentials for those in need. The location is ideal for exploring southern Sri Lanka, with Polhena Beach just a short distance away, perfect for snorkeling and enjoying the calm waters. Mirissa is also close by, offering exciting whale-watching tours. The guesthouse itself is peaceful, clean, and thoughtfully maintained. While they don’t serve meals, great local dining options are just a short walk away, making it easy to explore Sri Lankan cuisine. Overall, Sheru Guest provided me with a genuine cultural experience and a sense of home. It’s perfect for travelers who want an affordable, impactful, and authentic stay in Sri Lanka.
